Incelsior says

Quote
Yeah I hear ya

Murder him instead amirite?

These people are supposed to be trained professionals

What would you have liked them to do? Run away? Beg for him to not shoot at them? Shoot the rearview mirror so the bullet ricochets and knocks the gun out of his hand? They are trained professionals, after all.

Eh... probably not this:

Quote
Six police officers opened fire at McCoy for about four seconds.

And this doesnt help:

Quote
Police tried to perform CPR, but McCoy was declared dead at the scene.

Vallejo Police officials did not confirm the identity of the shooting victim, or how many times officers fired into the car, but David Harrison told the Los Angeles Times that McCoy, an aspiring rapper who went by the name Willie Bo, was his cousin.

I feel that is a overkill given they tried to perfom CPR in anycase afterwards.

I remember playing Swat 4 and getting penalized if I shot armed suspects who didn't present a clear danger (aiming the weapon). Because that was against the rules of engagement.

But, of course, there never were rules for cops in real life.

Nobody 'deserves' to get lit up like that, but US firearms legislation doesn't exactly help the militarisation of police forces that is ultimately why law enforcement are quick to respond with shooting first.
But a dude passed out in a drive thru with a stolen illegally after-market modded .40 cal in his lap is a different scenario to someone asleep just minding their own business, and its pretty disingenuous to portray that situation as what was reported.

Oh yeah, I agree with that. But I still question the police need to shoot like that even in this scenario. I dont blame them for shooting him if is like they reported it, but I dont like the brutality of how they reacted.

Responses in this thread piss me off. I have no idea what kind of neighborhood this is but what he did totally tracks. When I was younger and I was worried about the environment, I’d take a nap with a knife in my lap just in case.

1. He went to a Taco Bell parking lot because it had enough activity to at least be kind of safe. Better than napping in somewhere totally isolated. Less likely to get robbed.

2. He kept the gun on his lap to deter anybody who thought about being stupid.

3. He woke up disoriented. Saw police. Thought oh s—t. Put the gun away because that really would be the first logical thought...

Why the officers didn’t tap on the glass or try to wake him is blowing my mind. Even a bull horn at close distance with the lights would’ve worked.

Pisses me off. He wasn’t stupid...it’s just street logic. Unfortunately, that can get you killed apparently. I’m honestly trying to think of another way he could’ve handled it if he didn’t have money for a hotel and was too tired to drive any further.

Hell, even the manager could’ve told him to move on since he clearly wasn’t a threat asleep.

but "unresponsive" generally means an attempt was made to elicit a response

The cops said they didn't though;  they called for backup rather than try to wake him up and were in the middle of trying to surround him with cop cars when it went down.

I assume they showed up, lights and full beams, did the ole "WOOP WOOP" short siren, and gave a "Sir, get out of the car" but didn't bother doing things to wake him up as per galaxy brain era suggest, like walk up and tap on the windows repeatedly

Also, remember how plenty of people were saying it was fine that a certain celebrity once walked down the street looking for an innocent black man to kill for a whole week, and people were saying not only did he not only not deserve to die for something like that, but everything's cool now, because he's grown past that and matured and demonstrated he's not the person he once was by being honest about the incident and all that?

He obviously has self-confidence issues around being bald. I realise though the only reason you are bringing it up is you don't like his videos critical of the progressive left. This is why you called him a fake journalist. That's up to you.

One thing I will say though, he was a professional Journalist. He worked for Vice, and other outlets. If you remember the Kim Dotcom interview vice did, that was Tim Pool.

The other thing is, I have some respect for Tim Pool in that he has at least shown an insistence on reporting things accurately, the way he sees it. I can give an example of that as well.

Yeah, it's not hard. Park a cop car directly in front and behind him so he can't go anywhere and then use a megaphone or car speaker from a third car at a safe distance and order him out of the car and onto the ground. The course of action they took only illustrates how little they thought of his continued existence.

The officers performed a visual check to determine if other occupants were in the vehicle and began to formulate a plan to safely resolve the situation. The two officers decided to hold their position and did not attempt to wake the driver. Instead, they decided to wait for additional officers to arrive on scene and ensured that people in the parking lot were safe and did not approach the vehicle.

An additional patrol officer arrived on the scene and the officers elected to attempt to open the driver's door with the intention of one officer swiftly retrieving the firearm from the subject's lap, while another officer covered him. Unfortunately, the vehicle was locked. The officers noticed that the vehicle's transmission was in drive. At this time, additional units arrived and the officers positioned a marked patrol vehicle in front of the subject's vehicle to prevent forward or erratic movement.

Officers requested a Patrol Supervisor to respond to the scene for further assistance and began to position a marked Vallejo police patrol car to the rear of the subject's vehicle.

While officers were still positioning a patrol unit to the rear of the vehicle, and waiting for the supervisor, the driver began to suddenly move and looked at the uniformed patrol officers. Officers gave the driver several commands to put his hands up. The driver did not comply and instead he quickly moved his hands downward for the firearm.
