Ed Gein was always my favorite. I live only 15 minutes from where he spent his last days in the Wisconsin hospital for the insane.  It's called the Mendota mental health facility now  but It's got an old cemetery and Native American Effigy Mounds. It makes for a nice little walkabout. I also had a teacher in high school that was from Plainfield. She actually knew Ed Gein when she was a child, she said people thought he was kind of strange but harmless. Also the parents would have him come over sometimes to watch their kids for a couple of hours if they had to go out of town for a bit. That was how she knew him. I think the kids were probably safe though, he just had mommy issues.

Note that this wasn't about him, just saying as a joke that it would happen. I think.

It was fun but luckily they let me out before the Saturday night DUIs rolled in.

I was book and release unfortunately so no showers or area for that to happen. Not to mention jail is hella chill compared to prison. Although it made for a better experience because I got to see people at their most vulnerable when they're first thrown in a room without a clock. Like the guy whose wife is seven months pregnant and never broke any law ever but is looking at felony vandalism* for keying his bitch neighbor's car because he didn't realize she had a camera. I love drama.

*It's nominally felony but i seriously doubt they don't drop it to a misdemeanor. We couldn't console the guy at all, though, he kept saying over and over that he was going to lose his job. So I started stressing him out more by saying "thank God you got your citizenship then".

I was stuck in a cell with a guy whose face looked like it had been hit with a baton.

Turned out his face had been hit with a baton.  The cops caught him smoking crack, and had him cuffed on the curb, and his crack pipe was sitting on the curb next to him.   He decided to lunge for it with his mouth like he was bobbing for crack hits and they of course decided to crack him in the jaw with their baton since a crackhead lunging for a pipe clearly put them in mortal danger.

Was he black?

One of the guys who came in once violated his probation because he was walking on the street the wrong way. Not in the middle of the street, but up against the cars, but a cop rolled up and nailed him for "contact with police". He got four months for that.

A white guy was like "wow... maybe cops really are racist?"
