Now, I've learned to just take a breath and not take the bait. But, that has also involved me typically just not engaging in such discussions. One such earlier ban I received basically put me off from such engagements, I'll post the gist of it (I'm hoping that's allowed in this discussion):

I forget the main topic of the thread, but essentially a poster from either Scotland or Ireland was suggesting that no real racism or racial tensions existed in the country. Now, I thought this was an outrageous claim and eventually asked them, "are you a nicca?" This was done for two reasons A) the poser never made it clear if they were a minority and specifically black and thus could justify such a wild claim and B) to intentionally respond in a manner fitting to such a outrageous claim (ie "the fuck you just say?"). This poster then responded along the lines of "what?" At which point I repeated the same question. They then answered that they were in fact black (side-eye glance) but didn't initially respond because they considered the word offensive (double side-eye plus eye-roll) and me essentially an asshole for using it. Naturally, I was banned for asking my initial question since it was considered "hostile."

The end result of such situations makes one feel like a kid when you're just sitting there as someone repeatedly pokes you with a stick until you finally reach around, grab it from their hands, and tell them "to stop poking you with the fucking stick!" After which you immediately get chastised by an adult/parent for your tone and told to sit in time out while the stick poker gets to keep playing with his stick. It's hard to keep cool when someone keep poking you. And, it would be nice if there were clearer guidelines on how to respond to such stirrers of controversy beyond "be civil."

Have not faced real adversity. My daughter is such a goody-goody perfectionist that she still runs to her room and cries when we tell her that she's wrong (for once). None of them have been in fights. My oldest son was bawling a week ago because his sister's friends were teasing him. He's also self-conscious about his size as he is 2 years older than his little brother yet his little brother is bigger than he is because he takes after my wife, who is petit.

I'm ashamed to admit that I am a rager. Since Tekken 7 has come out, I have broken my keyboard, my Mario mushroom that USED TO make the collector coin and one up sound effect, and I put a hole in the basement wall after throwing a shoe.

IDK, I don't have a kid, but there seems like an obvious life progression barrier, like having a kid, that if you are still punching holes in a wall or breaking controllers over a game/genre you refuse to throw the towel in on, to the point of traumatizing your family, the only posting about that online you should be doing a year later is a plea for help on an addiction forum or as a retrospective about "why I needed to give up playing X."
