There have been so many incidents in my life like this one that I would have assumed someone was being racist if I were black.  About a year ago I was stopped for speeding and I had my hands folded, and the cop screamed at me to open my hands as I was sitting there listening to him as he was writing me up.  Startled, I opened them and looked at him like, "What the fuck, dude?" and he goes, "It's for my protection.  You could have been holding a weapon."  I shit you not, if I were black, I'd have taken that as a microaggression.  Several years ago I was denied entry into my brother's apartment that I followed someone in and didn't key myself into.  The security guard spotted me, and I was told to step out and had to wait for my brother to get there.  I don't know the details of what's going on in this video, but it's likely as benign as what I experienced.  Or maybe it's not?  It could very well be racist -- it's so hard to say because the confirmation and perceptual bias involved with this shit can be a huge problem.

1. Put your hands on the wheel

4. Don’t make any sudden moves
5. “Am I allowed to leave, officer?”
6. Use sir or madam.
