Dante here is possibly the best Dante ever. TIMU get ready for one of my favorite missions in the game in mission 12.

I just finished that. I was all :gladbron as soon as

Mission 12 spoiler, seriously don't look
Demon Sword Dante

Appeared.

That bike scene is still bad. But Dante's look has grown on me a little in motion/other scenes. I'm still not 100% on board with it, but it's better than it was.

The hat scene made me laugh, but I had to call it for the night. I'll probably finish it up tomorrow.
Finished at the exact same spot but played around with the hat a bit.

Christ this game is sooo good and full of content.

You can carry about four. One weapon has the summon sword, two in one that is essentially a boxing gauntlet with bobs and weaves that you can change with an input into a dedicated kick weapon with Ken's super, a two in one that doubles as a motorcycle and dual wield chainsaws, a three in one that is cerberus ice nun chucks that depending on your inputs can be an electric chain or a fire bo staff.

None of this is a joke.

We could also list fire arms which are pistols, shotgun, Kalina Ann 2(Rocket Launcher)*, and a hat and scarf.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
*You can dual wield Kalina Ann 1 with 2 if you find it hidden in Mission 11

And don't get started on all the cool changes made to styles, or how these weapons are affected by them.

The most feature rich character I've ever played in a videogame.

That sounds insane. So Beowulf is back? It sounds like Agni and Rudra as well?

Oh and I meant, how many can Dante switch to mid-battle. In DMC3 you can switch between two. I forgot how many you can switch to in 4 because I have wiped every memory of that game besides that one boss fight.

Mission 14's boss is damn awful.

"What a fool!"
*proceeds to charge you like 3 times and you can roll around/dodge only to eat one attack*

Had to use a continue, finally, because of that stupid ass "I'M NOT DEAD YET!!! *proceeds to try to heal*" bullshit at the end.

Nero mission after.

"Here, use this!" *V tosses it into the arena*
*trying to find the glow while low in health*
(Proceed to get steamrolled by said attack in previous post)

Charging the gun can do about 25% of their health before that point in safety, but as soon as the bird turns purple, I can't seem to grok how to avoid the damage entirely while trying to find the arm to stop time.

You have to trip it up. I think snatching the chick or a well placed calibur should do it. The arm that gets thrown to you I barely used in the fight and didn't feel like I needed to.

I just beat the first 6 missions or so.

V is kind of weird. I donít dislike using him, but I generally feel sort of disconnected when playing him, and donít find it as fun.

Also, Iím pretty sure there is a twist to where he came from and they foreshadow it by dropping an anvil on your head. It was really obvious about 10 seconds into the first mission with him.

I was surprised by how much I liked V, he seems divisive though as expected. He's either a SSS machine for you or a struggle, whichever it is someone considers it a flaw.

I was surprised how fluid has style is, but man juggling demons with shadow as griffon flanks them to keep in the air while you get your violin taunt going is  :lawd

V's honestly not that bad, the only problem I have with him is the shadows not targeting what you want to target at times.

I finally finished the game earlier and got up to like mission 3-4 in Sons of Sparda. Having the DT and Buster move just opens up SO MUCH gameplay, OMG. Supplexing the green double-hatchet bastards after juggling in the air. :lawd

So end game story spoilers...

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Kinda bummed we didn't get more info on Nero's mother or how Vergil met her.  Dante even teased it with a "I'm sure that's an interesting story but it will have to wait" or something like that before fighting Vergil. Given Nero's DT, she probably wasn't just some normal human. I WANT MORE LORE!

Also this totally sets up a sequel. All that "end of the Sons of Sparda storyline" talk was bullshit.  :lol

Technically not bullshit since

They can skip Dante/Vergil due to them being in the underworld

with DMC6-9 until they're ready to get back to that plotpoint.

I mean, it can give them an excuse to put their side of the story on hold if they want but
spoiler (click to show/hide)
both brothers are alive and stronger than ever. Nothing ended about their story; it was more of a cliffhanger than anything. In a weird way, this ended kind of like DMC2  :lol...Dante "trapped" in the underworld, only this time Vergil is with him.

I wouldn't be against a Nero-focused game but they left the DMC5 off in a strange place plot-wise.

I like the ending but goddamn Nero's DT was lame and i hated the final boss music lmao

Give me Dante and Vergil in hell and/or Trish and Lady working for Morrison. DLC or new game. I'm a lot more interested in those.

I like Nero, always have. But this game cemented the fact that I'll always prefer the old cast over Nero and the citizens of Fortuna. Dante was just the best playing character in any action game ever to me. I know he's the protag and they def decided that here, but the final push fell slat to me heh

Also Cyber, there are lore reasons for why Nero is so powerful. He's more human and went for the more humane option, that's literally it as corny as it sounds, it's been the series unifying theme.

I also think the point is to keep options open to the new team who are likely to take over as I'm sure itsuno is moving on from the series. They straight up gave you three possibilities with one possibly being DLC in Lady and Trish

I'm playing SoS now- V is starting to bug me a bit but I think it might just be because i was tired when playing yesterday. On DH he was a SSS machine but now I'm walking out with Cs  ???

Finally decided to fuck around with Dr. Faust in my SoS run and goddamn you get so many Red orbs from using it. Initially I was afraid of losing too much using it but for real just put the hat on every enemy, change back to a different gun then style on every thing to earn something like 10-30k on average.

SoS run has been much better than DH, elevates the game for me further. Kinda wish it was base difficulty but I get why DH is the way it is, for newcomers and all.

But goddamn, even though this Nero is way better than 4 and I really like V being the SSS machine he is. I never want to play Dantizzle over anybody, he's the best playing action game character of all time.

You weren't kidding. SoS is sooo much better than DH. The new enemy placements and late game enemies in early game areas are keeping it fresh too.

This game is so damn good. We finally have a proper successor to DMC3, brehs.

How long is this for someone who is decent to good at action games (I've beaten all previous DMC games, Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden titles no problem) and doesn't obsess over 100% completion?

Wondering if it's worth a Redbox rental or just wait for a price drop.

I'm replaying it on the HD Collection and man, it's a night and day difference in terms of combat and camera for the series with 3.
