Edit: clarification. My wife came to me to ask if she could do this and I told her it was okay because of what we were going through at the time.
that does clarify things a bit, thanks

P sure this is the same guy who at (the old place) said he hooked up with dudes on the side cuz he realized he was bi and got the go ahead from his wife.

Eh, as a counter-example, I've been with the same woman for eighteen years and our relationship's been semi-open for five. Doing great here.

Quote
So, I am bisexual. My wife is not, nor does she have the desire to fool around with other guys. I am free to engage in a limited number of sex acts with other people, but only men, and only following a strict set of guidelines.

Since she's not getting anything out of it - other than the stories, which she enjoys greatly - I'd describe it as "semi-open." It's not an official term or anything.

I mean duh this was the outcome.
that does clarify things a bit, thanks

GoT is pretty big but you can't have the "most important pop culture thing of our generation" label all at the same time for Harry Potter, Avatar, Lost, Marvel movies, Star Wars, LotR, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Matrix and the many others I'm forgetting.

Thanks for posting. I don't think anyone was asking for or expecting a response for EVERY post...but I think it's reasonable to expect a mod post after 40+ posts from today alone in this thread, especially with the multiple threads being locked, especially with the difficulty people are having even posting in the ad reporting thread because of malicious ads, and especially given there hasn't been a mod post in here in a week or so if I'm not mistaken.

Since the issue seems unusually severe I have temporarily suspended displaying all ads on mobile for now.

Man, they really can't be happy about ANYTHING :lol :lol :lol

He's complaining about a tiny part of a giant fight scene with literally EVERYBODY?  :lol  Most of the characters (outside the main cast) only had small parts in the movie and that should have been expected.

He's even more of a moron for complaining about how Hawkeye is used in the movie.  This shit isn't complex.

It came off as corny to me. Like Marvel is rushing in to cash in on girl power after ignoring women for so many films.

Yes, that 20 second shot of the women all standing together was cashing in on GRRRL POWR.  Also let's ignore that Captain Marvel movie that came out a month or two ago.  :doge

What's probably the saddest part about that thread (and the other Avengers threads) is how many posts there are talking about how annoyed with that moment (and it's really just a moment) because all they could think about is that incels and trolls online were going to complain about it. Genuinely sad in the genuinely pathetic kind of way where these people are so enveloped in the online anger it's all they can think about even in the middle of what might be the most anticipated event of some of their lives.

i was actually waiting for the books to be finished before reading it and then watching the shows, but since it doesn't seem like they will ever be finished, I just don't give a shit. I went to a friends to watch the season opener a couple weeks ago and I can't remember anything about it other than a child being lit on fire and a couple sets of tits.

There's no such thing as a defining piece of pop culture anymore. The media landscape and how it's consumed/produced doesn't allow for it any more. No one will give a shit about GOT 2 years from now, there will be 5 new "best shows ever" by then.

At my previous job, when the "Winter is coming" meme first made the rounds, someone emailed that out with a picture of Sean Bean.  I responded with something like "What's with this Lord Of The Rings thing?" and got like 50 responses back from triggered idiots blasting me that it was GOT.   :lol  Never saw so many people getting butthurt over a troll response IRL before.

i'm finishing GOT just to justify the sunk cost, but it's basically gone from mid tier HBO to STARZ tier trash TV over the last few seasons. praying that they have something more fractious and interesting than a dull goodies vs baddies showdown in store.

the writing now feels like a medieval version of garth marenghi's darkplace.

Quote from: Ash735, post: 20252248, member: 47403
Well we watched it with a friend and yeah, this show is problematic as fuck.

- This show is written, directed, produced, etc, by a MAN who has had a fleeting passing experience in the BDSM/Dominatrix scene
- This show disregards soo much to do with consent with clients, the main character is often forcing the assistant to do things against his will, pushing him into situations without telling him, in the actual BDSM scene this would never be done without any form of consent at all, the ONLY time the show touches on consent is of course when it's directed from Men towards Women (Sexual consent) which then comes across as a complete hypocrite moment since it's the main character who then rants about Consent whilst she is the biggest offender of NOT getting consent in the show
- In the real world, Clients often like to remain discreet, this show portrays those who indulge in BDSM as people who WILL show you up and shout about it at the worst possible times, showing that clients and those who partake in BDSM can not be trusted
- The main character meets potential enquires in her full gear, no actual domme would waste their own personal time doing this as it's considered "giving a free show" to those asking, the fun begins AFTER an agreement is made
- This show completely disregards screening in the industry, the finale is surrounded by this and makes out that all Sex Workers/BDSM workers will drop their own checks and safety if you simply offer them enough money, which is completely laughable
- There's a scene in the show where something happens where the LAW/POLICE would actually be on the side of the main characters, instead this show portrays that the Law/Police merely see them as prostitutes and don't care about helping and would care more about the potential serial killer/rapist instead, for fucking real
- The main character is written in a way that she's constantly an unlikable bitch and that's apparently how all Domme's are, couldn't be further from the damn truth but hey the show has got so much wrong at this point,m who cares

And then there's the stuff OUTSIDE of the show where Netflix/Twitter are happy to promote this show whilst treating actual sex workers and those in the BDSM lifestyle like shit. In a normal circumstance, Twitter will limit and shadowban accounts of Sex Workers and BDSM lifestyle promoters, even IF they tag themselves as 18+, Twitter has been banning accounts of actual Dom's speaking up about this show, meanwhile Twitter is allowing Netflix to promote a PARODY account that's supposed to be the Twitter account of the main character on the show, spouting all sorts of false crap and bad writing that's on the show, and Twitter has been promoting this account. So apparently it's ok to profit from Sex Workers.BDSM Lifetsyle folk when you're parodying them and it's OK to show this content, etc, but ACTUAL Sex Workers are still wrong and get punished on the very same platform. There was a call by other Sex Workers to tag themselves with this account to try and at least promote themselves in this situation "If you want to REALLY know what time with a domme is like...", and Netflix responded by REPORTING these comments, removing them and then Twitter shadowbanning the accounts. Seems fair right?

I love how she has a convenient hole in her clothes around her waist. Make a disembowling her so much easier for the enemies.
If only her t-shirt had covered her belly button a bit more, she would still be alive right now.  :'(

At least her femoral arteries are (mostly) covered  :idont

Do we have a broader feminism thread here on Era? I searched and didn’t find anything. I think we really need one. So apologies in advanced for this out of topic post, but I really need to vent among sensible people.

It’s so infuriating how a woman’s work can very often be judged and reduced to the man she’s dating. Case in point: the artist Grimes. I really like her music. I’ve fallen in love with it ever since I first heard Oblivion on the Visions album. Back then, this song resonated with me on so many personal levels...

But ever since that fucking 2018 MET Gala, all we ever hear about when people talks about her is fucking Elon Musk. Nearly every times. It makes me so mad.

There was an absolutely great article about her art and her life a few days ago by Flaunt titled: Who Knew World-Building Would Be So Difficult? They do mention Musk in it (once in about 2 000 words), but only to put in perspective how shitty last year has been for her:
Quote
Look at the Twitter fusillades, the talmudic readings of even the most flippant utterance, the team-joining. Feuds! With contemporaries, the media, her label. Gossip! A storm of it, following her spacetime-warping appearance with Elon Musk on the Met Gala red-carpet. And to hear Grimes tell it, being caught up in all this has been excruciating. She’s said that 2018 was one of the hardest years she’s endured.
Being true to her weird and eclectic character, she expressed many of her bizarre, radical ideas in the Flaunt article. So obviously many other outlets reported back about them. Nearly every of those other articles ended up talking about Musk. For no real reason. And don’t get me started about all the fucking comments underneath them...

Everybody is free to like her or not, but can we judge her for her actual work, please? And not exclusively because if the guy she’s dating? If I was her I would’t get out of my home anymore. I can’t believe this shit is still happening on that level in 2019.

This, and many of the examples in this very thread unfortunately prove that there are still many issues facing modern feminism...

from the thread linked by one of the male regulars of the designs thread in response to that Grimes post:
Really disappointed to hear some YIKES things coming out of my husband's mouth re: RLM's Captain Marvel review. Postin' in here because he might be looking at the Etc thread, not sure.

Such things like this regarding Brie's speech at the awards show: "Replace where she said '40 year old white men' with anyone else, would it still be ok to say that??" "What if she said [the n-word]??"

And when I looked up what venue she said it at and told him it was a women in film awards show: "That doesn't make it ok!!"

Yes, my husband is a 4x [half]-white man.

Seems fair right?

you'll be telling me that 'Allo 'Allo! isn't a 100% verbatim account of nazi occupied France next

By the way, RLM was on the money when they thought that Brie Larsen is kind of a dick.

It's either that or she plays friendly banter way too straight

I mean... the hollywood system seems to have its own kayfabe thing going on because roles get cast as "a _____ type", so even if she is a warm, affable and likable person IRL it makes a lot of professional sense to have Bitchy WASP Type as a public facing persona, because there's always going to be roles going for Corporate Lawyer / Heartless CEO / By The Book Authority Figure / Exploitative Boss as a foil

theres a brie larson and jeremy renner tag team interview for endgame which either jeremy renner is a way better actor than he has ever demonstrated professionally so far, or he legit does not particularly like brie larson.
