Crazy how so many are bending over backwards trying to explain away this dude's action under guise of mental illness, which may well be true. If he was anyone else, Ree would be universal in "cancelling" him like they do every YouTuber/Twitch streamer that even slightly offends them. Maybe I'm wrong and this guy's mental illness is legit, but it's strange how a lot on Ree gives him this deference when that wouldn't fly with literally anyone else.

Hopefully this DOES make people knock it off with the "mental illness doesn't cause bigotry" myth even when it's a mentally ill white person (or any other race) doing it.

It feels like people aren't posting controversial topics anymore on Era.  There have been 3 stories from last week that I know they would toss their cookies over but no threads.  Instead it's Slayven asking, "If your any superman your be?  What would your be?"

Of course it's in the laptops. It's in the servers , the routers , the phones - EVERYTHING they make.
They are a fully functioning intelligence branch of the Chinese government.
I get pretty upset over this stuff. The USA criminal charges are not enough. For me this is grounds for war.

But a strong reaction is warranted. Computers shepherd our thoughts, identity, our finances.

Phones are so disposable it's easy to fall into this blase attitude. My friends say similar things when I cautioned against Huawei phones. "They can have my Snapchat and 499 bank accounts if they want them"
I just see the bigger impact of a systemic collection of all the world's data for that right moment when it's put to nefarious use.

the bigger impact like PRISM, amirite?

I have long held the view that the humourless cunts at REEEEsetera are just a mirror for the terrible opinions of the ultra-woke left media and this article/opinion from The Guardian just confirms those thoughts.

Avengers: Endgame was brilliant - but the fat shaming broke my heart

Quote
Using a fat person as a punchline is cheap and lazy. So why was everyone in the cinema audience laughing except me?

At 30 years of age I really should be used seeing how fat bodies are depicted in the media. I should be used to fat bodies being the easy go-to for depicting sad, angry characters. I should be used to the introduction of a fat body to provide some comedic relief. But here I am, the morning after seeing Avengers: Endgame, and I am still shocked, angry and hurt. I am an avid Marvel nerd and while the movie itself was brilliant in many ways, I had seriously conflicted emotions about the physical appearance of Thor.

Quote
I wouldn’t be upset if he had put on weight as a result of his trauma and this was taken more seriously. Fluctuations in weight are normal, particularly when you aren’t taking care of yourself. My problem with Thor’s appearance is that he was clearly a strategic joke placed by Marvel to provide some comedic relief from the overall seriousness of the film.

Quote
Thor’s first appearance as a fat person sees him walking into the room shirtless with an extreme focus on his belly and everyone laughs. Look! Thor is fat! Fat, but still jolly, because how could a fat person not be jolly? Sitting in that movie theatre, watching the fatphobic jokes roll through at the expense of a veteran with mental health issues and listening to the subsequent laughter broke my heart.

How fucking fragile are these people? Thor was probably the best part of the film.

Of course, her Twitter profile should surprise no one https://twitter.com/femmeoutofwater?lang=en

I thought we were finally past the days of the fat suit.

Pretty sure we are. That looked like CG to me, similar to how they shrunk down Chris Evans back in the day.

edit: oh lord

Quote
So while I fully support people going to see Avengers: Endgame, I feel it’s necessary to make a trigger warning: strong themes of fat shaming and PTSD as it relates to war.

HL2 ep2 ended on quite a cliffhanger.

It'd be as if Infinity War came out, and then Marvel found another way of making money and lost interest in making movies and just never made the conclusion. People would be understandably pissed.

Understandably pissed like people who funded a kickstarter in 2013 with a release date of 2014, that made more than 3 times what it was asking for, and then post kickstarter took publisher financing for the creator to spend all day playing vidya, posting on forums, and navel-gazingly tweak their graphics and animations and 6 years later is still no closer to release levels of understandably pissed?

The whole body positivism / fat acceptance movement is irresponsible bullshit that is hurting and, without wanting to sound too theatrical, killing overweight people.

It’s one thing to stop people from making fat jokes is ok, but being ok with being fat and encouraging people to stay that way because it makes them feel brave and beautiful is bullshit.

It’s all bullshit lazy slacktivism from twitter personalities looking to score easy points / patreon donations.

They preach and praise overweight people, but they aren’t deal to help them to deal with the fucktons of health problems that being fat brings.

High blood pressure, severe back/knees problems, diabetes and related issues, constant various pain, sleep apnea and even shit like having problems to find decent fitting clothes and so on.

I have to take 3 different pills, two vitamines and one injection in the morning to keep going, and i’m not even super mega fat.

It’s terrible. I feel like a grandpa. Anyhow,  i changed my life around but i’m going to deal for the rest of my life with the consequences.

Those fat acceptance activists choose to ignore that aspect, because it’s not pretty, they choose to praise silly shit like “oh look how strong and brave this overweight underwear model is! Yas queen!”

So fuck off with that fat acceptance activism garbage and it hurts people

I can't believe the real Shuri posts here

--------

Thor was never body shamed in Endgame, in fact, dude kept his body shape throughout the entire movie and remained an integral part of the team regardless. If Endgame were truly in it to shame the doughy Thor, they would have had him God of Thunder his way into some Abs or something but they didn't. When the rest of the team approached him, they didn't tell him how fat he was, they were clearly more concerned about his living conditions and his drinking.

Motherfuckers don't even know what Fat Shaming is anymore.

People who think Walter White was supposed to be a hero are weird.

You’re right. Tony Montana > Walter White.

It is pretty hilarious how people became Walter White "fans";  I really think they read the show wrong.. like he's not actually a tough guy, the hat isn't supposed to be "cool" and he's supposed to be a sociopath.

They even completely expose his only redeeming quality; that he was allegedly "doing it for his family."

I'm at an elevated risk of care-posting here, but the reason people became Walter White "fans" is toxic masculinity.

I shall say no more to spare you all the bullshit that would surely follow.
