Lawl, the first weeks were just: "yay we made it guys!!!" and trying to get the old banned GAF posters who returned to leave as soon as possible so they could keep their bubble.
It was immediatly woke central and everyone had a target on their heads except the former GAF mods, who had to be respected and listened to for 'advice'. I went against that shit and got dogpiled for it.
Essentially the same douche nozzles who fucked up NeoGAF started their song and dance all over again. 

Also it was Balkanized as fuck right from the beginning and then the sort of tug of war began to see which 'communities' would survive the first purges. What made matters worse was all the 'special' titles they had come up with (community resettler etc.) which meant that some posters were considered 'better' than other posters. It was a shit show right away because of how they set this thing up and mostly because they had to do it as quickly as possible.

Also most of the 'industry' was dancing on the grave of the NeoGAF community because they had been such assholes for the past few years.

There was definitely elitism and strife, that's unavoidable with any big move, but I remember the whole "this is a reset" mindset being pretty prevalent throughout the first few weeks, which included a not insignificant amount of long-banned gaf members that disagreed with the pre-split social climate and authoritarian moderation.  There were worries about the mods considering some of the choices, but they didn't really seem to do much at first which many had assumed meant the place would be much more reasonable on that front.

Maybe I just wasn't paying attention.  Either way, I think we can all agree it's a thousand times worse now than it was.
