That captainraincoat guy really is leaning hard on this full blown conspiracy angle about the downfall of GAF. While it's possible the idea of splitting was already making the rounds, perhaps has started gestating more concretely and GAF mods were fairly disenchanted at that point, it wasn't exactly a mystery that the foundations were rotten. "Stab in the back" legend really is a pretty apt comparison but I guess it's not a surprise that's how some rationalize it.

It's not exactly a new thing that large Internet communities will have a strata of layers (some being insiders circle) in different sites, mediums or locations with some different standards of what's acceptable to say or not. ERA does seem to really be Discord/Clique-heavy, both in quantity of the channels and how much seem to happen there and it may periodically bite them in the ass. But to me the most glaring example of the community being unhealthy is how on the boards themselves you're allowed to do some "meta bitching" or "backseat moderate" openly in select so-called Community threads (or in that Sexualised Designs one) sometimes up to casting general aspersions on the plebe or even callouts by names (obligatory "Slayven can you fix this"). Talking shit of people behind their backs or being grumpy is a well understood human tradition (Obligatory "Have you seen the thread you post in ?") but I'm always astounded that people do it just right there, it's like moving two meters away from a group and shouting "wow this people are a bunch or morons, have you seen X ? I sure hope the popo will bust his ass" without even closing a door or something. Now that's a level of passive-agressive I don't recall ever being tolerated anywhere else than on GAF/ERA even on large boards because it's so obviously poison.

At least some of the new screenshots appear to have been conveniently cropped / dishonestly framed to make the intent of certain statements look completely different. For example one user was made to look like he was saying he loves Europe's lower age of consent, when he was actually replying to a conversation about the French dub of Metal Gear Solid.

The original screenshots now appear to have been taken down; we'd like to be clear that we did not request their removal. We do not know who took them down or for what reasons.

While it's more than a little upsetting that anyone would try to leverage a topic like this for petty revenge, we feel that any reasonable observer will recognize it as just that. We are not interested in lending it any more oxygen than it has already received.
