I unironically wish that Ariel was a different race that isn't white or black. It sucks that asians or middle eastern people are trapped in Mulan or Aladdin respectively (or nowhere at all if you're latino!) and would prefer Disney do something a little riskier than fish for "You'll NEVER believe how racists feel about the new black Little Mermaid!" article for the fourtieth time. Push the boundaries some.

Latinos already have Zorro.  :bluesteel

I thought Zorro was Spanish  :huh

The only people that like Star Wars are manchildren. Kids couldn't give less of a fuck. Blame Marvel for that.

+ Going to Disneyland/World after the age of 10. Only families go to that shit, and guess what: 20-30 year olds aren't having children because 60+ year olds royally fucked them in the ass in terms of life.

Maybe when Disney isn't fucking $300+ for a day ticket, people will be interested.

.....yes?  :'(

I mean, I don’t hold a grudge against EA, but everyone that turned their back on the Dreamcast created the malevolence that now drapes over all of us.

I was a very happy DC owner (only got a PS2 much later) but I don't think singling EA makes a lot of sense, even if we accept the lack of third party games certainly didn't help. To pick one specific example, if Konami had brought a PES to Dreamcast it would have mitigated that massive hole in the library that AFAIK never got filled in its lifespan (I love Virtua Striker 2 and it was a popular game but it's not the same thing innit ?).

I think the DC was up against too much from launch to get anything more than lukewarm third party support and some of the things it/Sega excelled at (arcade ports and fighting games) was on the decline as far as mass market appeal went anyway.

I think part of the problem can be traced back to the failure of the Saturn. During that period Sony had established itself as the No1 console manufacturer. It meant Sega now had a bigger fight on its hands. And their strategy of being first to launch ultimately hurt them. It hurt them with the Saturn and then hurt them with the Dreamcast. They really needed to get the Dreamcast right, and I guess in some ways they did, but then Sony announced the PS2 and it was more powerful than the Dreamcast. That was game over. It is an uphill battle trying to market a product that on paper seems inferior to the competitor's who is also riding on the huge success of their previous console.

The other problem of course is getting 3rd parties onboard particularly in a time when 3rd parties tended to stick with one console. Japanese developers especially.

that's spanking done wrong. mormon shit. "Son" he says calmly, "neither of us want this to happen, but this is necessary parenting." You draw the pants down slowly. Both of you say a quick prayer in your heads. SPANK. A tear strolls down your eye. You are crying more than your child...

hitting your kids is supposed to happen in a flash of anger, coupled with screaming, cursing, you name it. I've got (not fond) memories of really pushing my mom to her limit, being a completely uncontrollable little shit, and after several warnings I turn around suddenly, whack, there's a wooden ladle or some shit flying at me, and all I hear is "putang ina!!!" (lit: "fuck, son!!!"). Running back to my room and she's got the belt out, yelling that she should have put me up for adoption. That's how you're supposed to parent.
Yep, all this, "now son, this is going to hurt me more than its going to hurt you" bullshit is just fucking pathetic. It's meant to hurt and it's meant to teach a lesson.

reading the article makes it sound like their overall point is that the focus of current liberal discourse does little to energize the working class to vote democrat, while republicans have been successfully getting poor people to vote for them for a long ass time. i would generally agree with that take tbh
this is an incredibly ahistorical narrative. the right has systematically disenfranchised blue voters through disqualifying votes (via gerrymandering, literacy tests, ID requirements, spread of misinformation, assignation of felony status, etc.). the idea that the right is Actually successful at appealing to poor voters, and that the left fails at the same, is deeply out of touch with the reality of who is voting, and how much their vote counts for in our current electoral system
lots of interesting takes, I am learning very much

Their subreddit is so angry about that article it's unreal. They particularly hate Amber and have for a long while, as she is the most "dirtbag" or Anti-PC/ "it's all about economic class." Her recently going to bat for Louis CK really pushed it over the edge for them though. She is most certainly cancelled, in their eyes at least.
