I would love to see a study into how much damage has been caused by the current state of media both social and entertainment.
Like I can't imagine back in the day there being this many adults who are apart of online cults sucking the dicks of corporations and seemingly this unhinged.
It's just crazy really, I know reset is a bubble, but then you go on twitter and elsewhere online and this whole #BoycottSony thing is really gaining speed.
Surely there is also a link to how depressed, fat and single people are these days, they can't even get dates.

As much as the outrage is hilarious, I find it concerning these people are allow to vote, I guess at least they're not breeding so that's a win?

So what do you think, ERA? Is Disney/Marvel going to be petty and take the license elsewhere? Is it going to be business as usual since film and video games are different mediums? Or is everyone just jumping to conclusions too soon and need to chill?

Personally, I think it's the last one. I doubt we've heard the last of this whole ordeal.

I'm kind of at the opinion that if Donald Trumps 2020 manifesto was put spiderman and the x men in the MCU, most of era would go full qanon

He might bring it up himself if he sees it on Fox News. It's about business, a foreign company (Sony) and one of his friends (Perlmutter).
The odds are 50/50 Trump will make a comment on this  :doge

Start tweeting @realdonaldtrump
"Dear Mr President, you may have seen on fox news,
that an all american super hero is being held prisoner in a copyright law battle by foreign company.
This is disgusting, please help our great american studio Disney reclaim him from these god damn japs #maga2020"

Also Disney, we know you tried to make spider-man the new main guy for the MCU, but please consider MS Marvel as I want the internet war to start before we all die to climate change

Don't worry too much, voters in the past were probably as uneducated and fickle as they are now (not that I count myself as above that).
There's definitely a streak of infantility that might be specific to our time but I don't want to commiserate too much for fear of slipping down that slope towards "What the youth of today need is a good war." Von Moltke level of delusion.

On Era they are all 30-something year olds.
The bigger 'issue' is the void left by removing the corner stones of society such as religion and family. Corporations are worshipped simply for their existence, not their particularly good products and they actively built these rabid fan communities(cults).
I think it was RLM who said that Star Wars events were like political rallies and that is exactly what they are.

In a sense corporations are also getting high on their own supply (which will be their undoing) because 90's Disney would never had proposed a take it or leave it deal to Sony based on access to comic book movie Jesus.

Someone on the bore made a perfect post to describe these weird times. I think it was headwalk.

It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It's an endless series of online battles,
fought by shills and machines. War--and its consumption of life--has become a well-oiled machine.
War has changed. Gamer-tagged soldiers carry weapon skins, use Pay to win gear.
Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their feelings toward franchises. Genetic control, information control, emotion control, battlefield control…
everything is monitored and kept under control. War…has changed.
The age of deterrence has become the age of control for multimedia,
all in the name of averting catastrophe from fans stanning the next greatest thing of mass audience approval,
and he who controls the franchise, controls history War…has changed.
When the franchise is under total control, wars of cancelling becomes routine.

LOL. I was buying them with my own money in 85. I was reading issues long before that, and was gifted a collection of Marvel's content that went back to the mid 70s..which I still own. Uncanny 171 was in no way my first introduction to the team.

Unless you're in the luxurious position of being isolated from real life thanks to trust funds or whatever, losing your job is kind of a big deal, and people shouldn't be casually wishing it on people.

Whether thats people who choose a career in a moribund medium 2 years ago, people who say dumb shit on twitter, or people who write "you ugly" on a note and think the person they give it to will find it funny.

yeah, I don't particularly think losing your job is a good thing, and don't actively wish it on people, but there's a limit to my sympathy in a "live by the sword, die by the sword" kind of way if people somewhat often call for others to get fired for minor shit

The ERArt of the Deal :

Quote
Agree to the 50/50 split, but demand 15% of any movie that Spidey appears in and lock in his next 3 or 4 MCU appearances.
They'd probably say no, then you start to negotiate the 50% down to 20 or 30%

I can't believe how moralfaggy you're all being about some talentless hack losing his precarious job at a precarious company (gamestop) in a precarious industry (blogging). This is a guy who regularly advocates for people to lose their jobs, if whoever the fuck at Voidsoy got fired he'd be cheering it on, despite the absolutely non-proportionality and wider chilling effect of such an action. Anyone who makes it their full time job blogging about video games into their 30s really needs to re-evaluate what they're doing, it's not sustainable. It's a good thing, I hope he has financial issues.

I can't believe how moralcigarillogy you're all being about some talentless hack losing his precarious job at a precarious company (gamestop) in a precarious industry (blogging).

Looks like gamestop is done for anyway. its probably better to go now and find a job, than be competing for one against the rest of the company in a years time when they go bankrupt.
