Disney should buy Sony and sell PlayStation to Epic/Tencent then sign an exclusive deal for Spider-Man games with EA  :phil

I didn't look up the numbers (which are kind of ambiguous and fuzzy anyway when we reach the level of those international conglomerates), I'm more amused by the spin and counter spin of framing those purely financial negotiations in simple right / wrong narratives. Though my intuition would be that Disney is more powerful / bigger than Sony (and even more so at the film division level). Maybe it wasn't so pre-Lucafsilm pre-Marvel pre-Fox when Disney was relatively speaking not doing too well while Sony was surfing the PlayStation wave.

Edit : Out of curiosity I looked up the employee count and at a glance Google gives me 200k for Disney and 120k for Sony.

Using that highroad to bludgeon other people with your moral superiority just like the warriors from ERA.

(Image removed from quote.)

what should he have done instead  :confused

Not quote-tweeted Imran's assholery and simply wished him good fortune?

That tweet doesn't make Soret better than Imran, it makes him seem petty.

No one on era has ever taken the highroad tho

Soret didn't either lol

Kind of glad I am no invested in MCU to give a shit about spider man status. I heard they do interesting stuff with him and man I get why this stuff is depressing for fans invested on this (even if I laugh about the over reaction and the blame game).

I feel this stuff are the same problems comic book shared universes faces but in a multi billion scale.

It’s amusing that some people are playing the “marvel deserves the characters they created” card considering the history of the actual creators of these characters.

The superhero craze has gone from weird to background noise and now back to weird again. I can't believe how much time grown adults spend discussing this shit and how much money is tied up in it all.

Look at the 'which media company owns spandex-man now' thread in comparison to any of the threads on serious issues they pretend to care about and the difference is staggering. Nearly 4,000 comments in under 24 hours, all of which is completely inconsequential nonsense.

I guess I'm just one of those old, out-of-touch folks that don't 'get' things any more. It's a frustrating and bewildering feeling, but I'm sure it'll pass.

Dude. I went to see End Game and I was chatty with this couple before the movie. There's this annoying ass blue character who is always a waste of space that betrays them. I hate her and at one point I scoffed when she was on screen. "Waste of a character", I mumbled. That's all I said, she was so MAD. You might think she was mad because I was talking during the movie but that's all I said out loud :lol I could tell they were MCU superfans and she in particular was a fan of all the female characters. She shot death eyes at me again when I laughed as Captain Marvel came out of nowhere after not being around the entire movie too. At the end of the movie she grumpingly got up and was like,"how dare you for not supporting the female characters, you are a woman" and left. :lol

They are giving you looks because you aren't shutting the fuck up in the movie theater like you are supposed to.

I like how you think people could only be made if they are MCU fanboys lol

Nah, I only said one thing and giggled at Captain Marvel. :lol She even outright told me to support the woman characters.

Not any different than people saying,"oh my god!!" at some reveal. :lol

I had the pleasure of watching a family cry when spiderman dusted in part 1, was fucking hilarious, I laughed harder than what was socially acceptable. Part 2 I was sitting behind an annoying couple where the BF was explaining who everyone was to the GF.

Yeah definitely;  and I generally have trouble getting into animation (hard to explain, something about how voice acting is almost always over-acted.)

That's just an awesome movie.

disney basically admitted to this shit when the captain marvel fallout was happening, that they had whole teams ready to combat toxic trolls on social media.

Sony is a financially weak foreign company that constantly tries to grift and dilute anything in American culture that will make them money. I'm so glad Disney is teaching them a big boy lesson. Spider-man needs to be out of the hands of Sony entirely.

The biggest problem with the MCU Spidey was the over reliance on giving Spidey a huge supporting cast that all know his secret identity (so no real drama) so losing all of the iron man characters and his joke machine high school friends might actually make the movies feel ike spider-man again.

MCU spidey should have just been miles.

I disagree. The DCAU as in the shows from Batman TAS to JLU are excellent, but the movies for the most part were always kinda eh with very few exceptions.

why is gamestop dying anyway
do people not buy vidya anymore or something? or is it amazon or the like to blame

even at the height of retail sales why the fuck would you go to gamestop? are you that pathetic that you have no one to talk to that the idea of getting the run around about how you should buy an open copy of a new game, sign up for a shitty membership service or pre-order the hottest HOT HOT HOT new shooter is appealing to you?

never understood the fascination with shopping at gamestop.

It's not really a fascination so much as it's the easiest place to get a physical copy of a game for me, because goddamn Best Buy and Wal-Mart never like to have shit on release date for some reason.  I also remedy all that shit you listed by simply saying "no thanks" and being done with it.

they're not in the rack and then you ask the guy working there if they have it and he sighs because you're imposing so greatly upon him and he stumbles to the back room turns 360 degrees and walks away and tells you they don't have it

I think MCU Spider-man has been pretty good. Thought Spider-Verse was the best Spider man movie. Think Spider man movies have been pretty good. Think it would suck to take him out of the MCU. Especially since I feel like with Iron Man and Cap gone there isn’t really a character in the MCU to like. Teenager Parker was pretty good.

I shop at GameStop because they have games. Simple as that. Best Buy and Target don’t have every game and certainly don’t have older games or accessories. Gamestop does and that’s it. Can the clerks be annoying? Yeah. So can they be at any store. Best Buy recently has had overly helpful clerks as well. Do they try and sell me stuff? Yes. Target also tries and sell me their red card or warranties.

Whatever I deal with it. It’s really harmless.

Though Gamestop does tend to have awkward nerds just gathering around, but whatever. It’s a confidence boost knowing I’m not them heh.

this is fake news.

best buy, target, walmart, etc. always have new games stocked.. don't know what you are talking about. and at gamestop 9 times out of 10 unless what you were buying was normie-tier shit like CoD or Madden they never had new releases either because they often only ordered 1 extra copy outside of pre-orders (and then would open it up and charge new price for an opened game)

GameStop did well for a long time for a bunch of reasons;   each of those reasons has sort of eroded away over the years.  They used to be one of the only places to do pre-orders, to trade-in or sell your games, and they were on every damn corner and inside every mall.

pre-ordering games is the top reason to shop at gamestop.... of course it is riotous.

if you pre-order games you are a fucking idiot.

Last time I walked into Gamestop it was 20 percent games and 80 percent nerd fetish shit. It was revolting.

It was like they hired the creative team from Spencers and asked them to redesign the stores.

It also reminded me of the final days of Blockbuster and what it turned into.

Uh.. I'm probably gonna regret this but Otherkin here.

I can't speak for all of them but at least for myself, it definitely isn't roleplay to me. My identity is heavily ingrained in my lifestyle, and impacts me on varying degrees. Do I go out in public and walk around and meow and stuff? No, because I understand that's not a think society would understand or be okay with. But when I'm in the comfort of my own privacy, do I act the way I am comfortable and identify with? Yes.

It's not "really strange", and at least a decent portion of us are relatively cool people. (At least, me and my partner think I'm pretty alright.)

It's an identity like any other and doesn't effect anyone. So what is there to wrap anyone's head around?

I have a hard time with these sort of things because these subcultures are used as examples and jokes to dismiss legitimate medical condition like gender dysmorphia and trans issues.

I don’t care these subcultures exist and in a perfect world a lot of these people are harmless in comparison to say anti-vaxxers or “science” bigots (those who use false or outdated science to be racist or homophobic) but at the same time I wish they would stay a fun subculture instead of trying for some legitimate standing because it muddies the water and contributes to the Rachel Dolezal effect.

There are people who believe they are otherkin or identify as otherkin, but it isn't real and shouldn't be treated as such. Things like otherkin are in the same vein as "transracial", that only serve to weaken the actual fight that we have over gender identity in the world.

Bingo. It can directly contribute to dangerous, harmful rhetoric.

why is gamestop dying anyway
do people not buy vidya anymore or something? or is it amazon or the like to blame

even at the height of retail sales why the fuck would you go to gamestop? are you that pathetic that you have no one to talk to that the idea of getting the run around about how you should buy an open copy of a new game, sign up for a shitty membership service or pre-order the hottest HOT HOT HOT new shooter is appealing to you?

never understood the fascination with shopping at gamestop.

It's not really a fascination so much as it's the easiest place to get a physical copy of a game for me, because goddamn Best Buy and Wal-Mart never like to have shit on release date for some reason.  I also remedy all that shit you listed by simply saying "no thanks" and being done with it.

this is fake news.

best buy, target, walmart, etc. always have new games stocked.. don't know what you are talking about. and at gamestop 9 times out of 10 unless what you were buying was normie-tier shit like CoD or Madden they never had new releases either because they often only ordered 1 extra copy outside of pre-orders (and then would open it up and charge new price for an opened game)

Alright, I guess I was hallucinating the few times I decided to bypass Gamestop and use my Gamers' Club discount on release day only to find my Best Buy didn't have shit.  Or when Amazon release date delivery screwed me.  Or when, like I said, Wal-Mart straight up didn't have shit they had advertised.  My bad.

Hey, no. I'm trans too and I can tell you that otherkin have no effect on trans identities. Transracial stuff does. Otherkin doesn't. Kind of makes me upset to read this coming from a trans mod.
I can tell you it does, and there's plenty of people in this thread echoing the same thing. It might be worth reevaluating your preconception that there is no link between someone identifying as another race or someone identifying as another species. Both are extremely harmful to the fight for gender identity as they are co-opted by others as weapons against gender identity.

Additionally, I'm not staff anymore.

I'm not sure why we're giving people who punch down at trans folks by equating them with otherkin any credence in the first place.

If otherkin weren't a thing, it's not like they'd suddenly see the light regarding trans issues.

Just because otherkin are an easy target for those sorts of people doesn't mean we reward them by going, "Yes, those people are weird. But we're nothing like them. You should laugh at them."

yes you should
