I found kind of sad that some critics genuinely believe Rise of the Retcon is capitulation to haters when is more  about Disney mismanagement of the franchise and The Last Jedi being a mess. Maybe, there is a possibility, that the Last Jedi didn’t do so hot to Disney to follow its plot threads and JJ Abrams is a hack to be able to do anything about it.

Other people are saying that the 'fandom' (of which everyone who watches these movies is included) is trash because they said that TFA was "too safe" and that TLJ was "too bold". It's this type of 14 IQ interpretation powerplay that gets people to believe in horseshoe theory.

TLJ lovers hate TROS because it's a betrayal of what was set up in TLJ

Last Jedi was an actually good movie, not just Star Wars good. Right behind Empire Strikes Back. The fact Rise of Skywalker retcons lots of shit to appease though who didn’t like TLJ (and many critics have said it does retcon lots) is very annoying.

There will be more Disney SW movies but they need to let the mainline movies sit awhile. And get one director for the whole trilogy so it doesn’t end up looking like a fight between two directors and Disney again.

Rian Johnson wins in the end, basically similar to the final scene/shot of Knives Out.

They probably did because they didn’t want to have any legal problems with the creators that work on the EU. The smart thing to do would have been doing what comics films do and rewrite story arcs, characters or events to be appealing to mainstream audiences rather than shit on everything and then using it anyway.

Instead of continuing on from the ending of the second movie of the trilogy, Skywalker immediately goes about retconning majority of TLJ, because those in charge panicked. Maybe a version that continues on from the ending of TLJ still turns out like this, but at least it wouldn’t be Retcon: The Movie.

I was just reminded that last time I went to see a Star Wars movie we saw some guy getting assaulted lol. Ok so the guy was a total asshole and kept shouting something during the movie (at least some of it was spoilers) so he had it coming but it was still weird when the lights came on and we saw a nerdy looking dude come and bash the guy's face on the seat in front of him and then get into some sort of fight there.

I expect nothing less from tonight.
