I was used to him and some others because they were NBA-GAF people first and acted the same exact way in there. On a better note for example, Black Mamba was one of the few who had my back about stats in NBA-GAF before it got killed, then he came back and stayed in PoliGAF as a policy pundit. Real shame about the Lakers fan thing though.

I tended to not care for people who wanted to control the discussion, for some reason I think of NYCMetsfan/APKMetsfan as like that, though it might have just been early on, usually people who were new tried to do that kind of thing.

Coincidentally, I had been scrolling past B-Dubs posts for ages, dude used to always be near the top of the thread ranking and almost none of it was worth reading.

And it seemed solely because my answers didn't convince him, which like, your answers about the great uses of violence don't convince me either breh. And then stuff like when someone would ask something minor like what books I'd read as anarchist "primers" because they were interested in exploring it (and I even only had one "libertarian" book on the list, Kropotkin had two spots) he still used it as an opportunity to restart this argument and got accusatory when I was like "let's not do this."

Maybe I was just reading him wrong and taking it way too seriously. I once read ToxicAdam totally wrong over a decade ago too.

to be totally honest I never really pinned down what your personal politics are, either, I just get smatterings of it when you quote Hayek at length or talk about your reason.com adventures, but when I once suggested that you would be fine with UBI and a state run insurance program for everyone you're like "yeah, that seems accurate". PoliGAF used to be more active (about things that weren't polls/elections) and more diverse in general, then after the 2012 election it sorta died off outside of the type that run PoliEra now and there was a gap that weirdos like me and foreign friends filled.

Before it got massacred I literally only went on NeoGAF.com for a number of years for NBA-GAF. (And I guess seeing what the popular threads/news on gaming-side were.) Then it was just King Of the Hill/cooking reality show threads. I have no idea why I ever wound up running with Late Night PoliGAF.

I was already over here for all my most important needs. Eventually we got likes too.

That pretty much puts an end to it. At some point some one some where will want some thing that another person has and use violence to try to take it. Without some system of laws in place there's nothing to stop that, and any system of laws will require an amount of violence for enforcement.

Libertarians accept the state and some form of government with all the implied powers. They just want it highly limited in some manner. Some libertarians are broad enough to include something like an UBI, while others literally mean "night watchman state" to some level. There was a guy on reason.com years ago who advocated for a state that solely ran lighthouses. That was it. He could not see how anything but a government could run lighthouses. Everything else should be privatized.

edit: I should note, that this is American libertarians. It's really just a more extreme edge of liberalism.

I don't accept the state's claim to the legitimate monopoly on the use of violence. I'm not an anarcho-capitalist because I don't believe capitalism is inherently good or necessary. I think it's rather natural in many aspects and I will admit to not seeing many better options on the table until scarcity fades, but I wouldn't want it imposed and have no opposition to people forming say, communist collectives if they aren't forcing people into it, anarcho-capitalists don't seem to like this and will suggest wars over it sometimes.

Another thing is most popular anarcho-capitalists and their followers are all about protecting and monopolizing all things IP and well...
