There’s also:
-Standing and dancing on the tomb of the unknown soldier.
-pissing on the side of the War Memorial.
-harassing homeless shelter workers and taking food from the shelter meant for the homeless.
I will say in regards to your other post, there were definitely way more than a thousand people there Saturday, though. Smaller turnout yesterday, still probably more than a thousand.
I am against all these things. Especially where it concerns memorials and statues. History should be preserved.
Where did I say every single one of them are Nazis? It's an anti-government protest that is composed of far-right fringe elements.
This is not how it has been reported. The news was that lots of truckers were joining a convoy in protest against mandates. I had not seen the pictures of people carrying Nazi flags.
The interviews and images I had seen were mostly what you would expect from truckers.
In a protest of less than 1000 people, with multiple Nazi, confederate and Trump flags, you know exactly the kind of people they are.
I don't think the overall size of the protest is a 1000 people but I don't believe the inflated attendance numbers either. The truth is somewhere in the middle. I don't know exactly what kind of people they are. All I know is that they are truckers protesting against the mandates. COVID protests in general seem to be attended by or attract all sorts of groups. Some people are just looking for trouble. Most of the COVID protests basically turn into outdoor festivals.
The amount of joy you get from seeing anti-government protests by people like this is rather disgusting.
Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you? Why do you fawn over people like this in every goddamn thread?
You've been doing it way before covid was a thing and it's gross.
The 'joy' if you can even call it that is the fact that Trudeau said something like: "This is a small fringe group with unacceptable views" because apparently protesting against vaccine mandates is to him unacceptable. But when he realizes the crowd is bigger than he imagined, he runs away. Now I admit, I'm a bit of a disaster tourist when it comes to all sorts of popular protests and politicians fucking up but I'm not fawning over any group in particular in every thread. I've shared footage and commentary of all sorts of protests over the years from across the political spectrum.
Overall I'm against the seemingly unchallenged emergency powers that governments are using to deny people their basic freedoms based on arbritary things like their vaccination status. Especially when the rules change on a whim with boosters and whatnot. In my view if we want a society that heavily relies on such systems and QR codes it should be openly debated and put up to a vote. But this crisis is being used to put all sorts of systems and regulations in place because a few politicians, lobbyists and corporations think it's necessary. And we know from past experience that once they implement such things chances are it will never go away.
If truckers drive and honk and use their right to protest against that, I don't really see where the problem is. Unless of course a majority of these truckers are Nazi's that intend to overthrow the state but I have seen no evidence that this is the case and Canada is the last place I would expect Nazi truckers to overthrow the government or resort to violence. But of course stranger things have happened these past few years.
a note on Nazi flags
There's something weird going on with Nazi flags in relation to COVID protests. In most cases the people against mandates are making the argument that their government are the Nazi's. I don't know why people walk around in the streets with Nazi symbolism in this day and age but it seems to be part of the zeitgeist. Much like how folks wear Che Guevara T-Shirts, people in Hong Kong put Trump as Rambo memes on their banners or anti-capitalists go work for Bloomberg and share their manifestos with iPhones at Starbucks.
It's overall just a wild and confusing political theatre in symbolism and actions but openly waving Nazi flags in capital cities is usually reserved for militia's in East Europe or protests against Israel and the US and their wars, so this is a very strange development indeed.
In this case I see a flag "Fuck Trudeau" and a Nazi flag. Are they implying Trudea is a Nazi or are they themselves Nazi's against Trudeau? The picture with the confederate flag is much more clear, deranged people put that on their trucks in support of the confederacy.
As for the Trump flags and Trump movement, between MyPillow ads, JFK jr worship and Trump promoting vaccines who can even tell what it stands for anymore and why people are flying that flag at a COVID protest. Then again I don't consider flying a Trump 2024 flag equal to flying a Nazi flag either.
So in short: peaceful protest, honking and driving is fine, flying Trump flags in Canada is weird but not a crime either. Confederate flags and Nazi flags are literally a big red flag and the latter is banned from public display in most countries for good reasons.
