Holy shit
So for era mods
“Allowing 40000 travellers from China in middle of pandemic” = “allowing 40,000 Chinese into America”
“Criticising the Xi government clampdown on journalists and cdc investigation” = “criticising the Chinese people”
Holy shit lol
OK I'll just make one serious care post about this. That Biden ad definitely comes across as having xenophobic undertones. Unintentionally so ? Perhaps. But it's glaring. That a SuperPAC released a day before another ad slamming Trump on exporting tons of PPE to China instead of keeping it for America also does not do this any favours.
The Biden ad literally goes straight to "Trump rolled over for China" as if to suggest he was fumbling his total lack of a policy or foresight on orders from Beijing ? And not because he's a lazy moron. There's a weird insistance on China all throughout the rest narrated by some jaded PI who just uncovered a criminal conspiracy. It seems transparent the message has a double purpose of saying Biden will be harder on China. It doesn't mesh really well.
I think it absolutely warrants some discussion, on ERA or elsewhere, hyperbole notwithstanding.
