Yes, freedom of speech DOES mean freedom from legal consequences.  It doesn't matter if it's a fine of a penny, the government or law getting involved in any way is massive overreach.  Now if you want to say there should be more exceptions to freedom of speech, go for it, but don't use the "freedom from consequences" argument when you're not using it right at all.

yeah no I've been here since the beginning and this OT has had a racism problem since day 1. Justifications like this trying to pretty it up pretending it's all constructive doesn't help. There's rarely been a discussion in these topics that actually necessitated even mentioning a game/dev is Japanese in order to highlight issues with character designs and/or gameplay. If you're not Japanese it's not your place to talk about what needs fixing with the culture, end of. The Asian meeting report happened less than 1 year ago, and nothing changed in response. Someone asked a broad neutral question recently "are things in games getting better or worse?" and was met immediately with west good Japan bad.

I’ll be honest, I’m not very good at video games. So yesterday I was playing Like a Dragon, and in one section I spent around an hour getting through a building only to die and have to start over. So I feel like I just wasted an hour playing. Several times I start a game and can’t get past s certain part. It’s caused me a lot of frustration. What I like about watching a movie is that, whether I like it or not I know I’ll be able to see the whole thing, and I won’t get stuck at a certain part and have to go back. I used sunk cost fallacy to justify still playing video games, but I think I’m finally ready to give them up.
