They found out when Steve Scully lied about his twitter being hacked, though i'm not sure whether that was because there was evidence or he was tired of lying. Surely whoever ends up investigating this can just ask twitter for the device info and location data? Though I guess it depends on whether Kellyanne has logged into her twitter on her daughters phone and just posted image directly, or whether she's sent the images to her phone and posted them from there.
