I don't think I'll be playing anything else until the new year so here's my list:

James Bond 007: Bloodstone: PC. The only original storyline game of the Daniel Craig era. It's good enough for what it is. Very much just another iteration of EON, From Russia With Love, Quantum of Solace games which isn't challenging or deep at all but gives enough of the Bond flavor to be fun enough if you're in the mood for Bond stuff.

Mafia III:Played this from a PS Now trial. Extremely, extremely repetitive. The whole game is basically the same 4 missions over and over that otherwise would be side missions in a normal game. Sure seemed like the whole idea was born out of someone who really liked late 60s music and wanted a reason to have their favorite songs in the game.

Streets of Rage 2:  : One off, one continue with Axel :jeb

Metal Gear Solid V: 100% this after having not played it at all since 2016. I believe I had left off at 87%. Certainly has problems storywise being unfinished but man the gameplay is so :jeb

Super Mario 64: My actual cart was stuck at 115 since 1997, started from scratch finally hit 120 stars :lawd Besides occasional wonky camera stuff, this still plays so well. Really amazing considering its age and how early into the 3D platformer this was and yet nailed it so well it is still excellent 20+ years later when most games from the same period are unplayable trash today. This is an all time achievement for me, as that 115 stars save had in some ways haunted me ever since. A real sense of finality and achievement finally beating it all the way through.

Streets of Rage 4:Surprisingly awesome. Beat it with every available character. :jeb

Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid:
: Game Pass play, pretty button smashy but kind of cool I guess.

Dead Rising 4: Game Pass play, enjoyable enough as someone who had previously only played the DR 2 I think prologue on 360. Did pretty quickly start skipping all cutscenes, though.

Metal Slug X:
Game Pass play, animation still as incredible as ever, can't imagine how many quarters it would take to beat on a cabinet

Gears 5 : Game Pass play, okay enough as a shooter since I don't play shooters. Much like DR4 I was pretty quickly skipping all cutscenes.

Sonic Adventure:  I had only played a demo of this at a local toy store when it came out and it was only the stage with the whale, so I was pretty surprised that this game is actually pretty awesome. Very inventive and impressive in scope and ambition. 2 sucks in comparison and I have no idea why 2 is the one that got ported/remade multiple times instead of this one. It's not as good as Mario 64 but it really isn't far off imo despite not being a 1:1 comparison.

Confidential Mission  :lol shitty Bond/MI pastiche Dreamcast light gun game :jeb

Canon Spike: This was kind of interesting I guess. Very, very easy. Is this low key also a Capcom/MGS crossover?

Death Crimson OX: Truly one of the ugliest games I've ever seen in my life :jeb

Ikaruga: This seems legitimately impossible without cheats, but then I saw a video of a dude beating the game while playing as different colors with each hand at a cabinet :titus

House of The Dead 2 :jeb

Goldeneye: Rogue Agent: I had actually never played this and as a non FPS person, I was surprised at how solid it felt as it's a licensed PS2 FPS and it's now 2020. It's a neat idea for a Bond game/story, but I did find it weird there was literally no Bond music in it at all. None of the character motifs, not even the Bond theme itself. I think the closest it got was the ending chord to the Bond theme pops up once or something.

Spider-Man 2: Really pretty amazing how much the 2018 Spider-Man game took from this. Played it on PCSX2 with 8x resolution and outside of an occasional texture glitch (which isn't related to the resolution upgrade), it was still immensely playable.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine: The ultraviolence :lawd It does get pretty repetitive by the end but  :lol at how violent and bloody this is when the movie it is based on is so bad and sanitized.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 Remaster: A lot of fun and nostalgia, no story mode, just tricks :jeb

The Avengers (2020): People keep shitting on this game but I found the gameplay itself to be very, very good and satisfying and would def consider buying it if they ever actually update the game as a real GAAS deal because the main issue is it is quite lacking in content. Story is whatever and short, but then your grinding post game is basically 3 missions where the only difference is difficulty spikes. But it's a great 3D beat em up brawler in just the combat sense. Thor is definitely the best to play as, Iron Man is definitely the worst to play as.

Yakuza 3 Remastered: Kept seeing this get shit on here, too, but I enjoyed it a lot. Some of the QOL changes 0-6-Kiwami games that were missing here were a big jarring to get used to, but otherwise this felt like a nice enjoyable Kuzer game from start to finish.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales: I was pretty underwhelmed with 2018 Spidermayne for various reasons (story was boring and too long, collectibles and side quests were lame and a waste of time, way too much direct swiping from the Arkham games), but this was pretty rad. Perfect length for me where it can be beaten in a weekend, the collectibles actually have a tangible benefit and most have story relevance on top of that. I could see people thinking they got a bum deal if you paid full price for it because it's very short, but as this was a library rental, it was perfect length for me. Combat was more fun and varied, story didn't go on and on and on like the first game, didn't feel like it was such a direct Arkham rip off at times. Actually plattied this binch :jeb

Gonna start Yakuzer 4 in January, use some Bing points to do a month of Gamepass PC and play some shitty Star Wars games and Doom Eternal after that :jeb

Didn’t do much gaming this year since I didn’t have my PS4 for most of the year and even when I had it I mostly just played Rocket League from time to time but I did finish a few games these past couple months as I kinda got back into playing some single player stuff.

Watch Dogs 2 - Great open world GTA-like. Really such an improvement over the first. The characters are good if maybe a bit shallow. San Francisco is beautiful. Driving is fun and it was a good choice to give the player a bad ass car in the beginning of the game. The toys and tech were fun, though a bit game breaking when you realize you can literally “distract” every single enemy in the game and just knock them out with your yo-yo. Good pacing, good missions, decent story and fun gameplay. Hoping Legion builds on this title.

Days Gone - Glad I played it and even more glad I waited so long. I had heard the stories of bugs and frame rate woes but in late 2020 this game runs fine. The characters slowly grow on you starting with, “What’s up with this biker hick.” And ending with “This biker hick isn’t so bad.” The story has its ups and downs but apart from some eye-rolling twists in the late game I felt like it got better as it went, which is good because... this game was far too long. Probably 30 hours for the main quest and then they dump all of this endgame stuff on you at the end. I didn’t touch the optional end-game stuff because frankly even though I was enjoying the game at the end, I was ready to be done. The hordes were pretty cool but the missions focused on clearing them out were a bit frustrating.

FFXV - I played the launch version so none of the DLC story fixes. I actually dug the road trip vibe and I liked the 4 main bros more than I thought. The first part of the game (first 75% or so) was pretty good. Though it seemed like there were far far too many side quests. Like you would get extremely overleveled if you took them all on. The enemies were cool (beasties, enemy soldiers, robots, bosses) and after I got the hang of it, the combat had a good flow. The biggest blemish on this game was the final 3-4 chapters. The train ride was...okay. But that enemy base at the end was super boring, the time skip was dumb and old Noct looked so dumb. The final cutscene was a good rebound and almost brought a tear to my eye. This screen in particular hit me hard.

But even hyperstylized FF artwork couldn’t save this game from the messy final act.
