Not sure if this is the NYT (again), but there's articles up about how annoying today's word is. Also the frustrations over "caulk" from the other day.

Don't want to link anything because some of these sites list the answers without warning.

Today's word shows that the optimal strategy is not always to guess for the correct word but to rule out possible letters. I assume people are annoyed because their go-to strategies failed this time.

Well, most games are not balanced for multiple modes, and disallowing a valid strategy does give hard mode legitimate hardness. Basically, let them suck hard-mode 'caulk' if that is what they want.
