Leaks are in. Apparently a hack? Most hyped game for me right now.

I cannot believe this is pre-Alpha. It looks incredible considering that. Lucia has a nice booty and walk. 😔😳

Into whatever I’m seeing. Some are saying it corroborates rumors? Multiple states? Modern Miami and other parts of Florida are cool as is.

They posted it to a GTA modding forum and it's ballooned to 80 pages within the first several hours. They also claim they were behind the recent Uber hack (which would mean they're 18 years-old if they weren't just lying), which is also in their username :lol

When you have R* caliber resources, maybe don't sit on your hands for 9 years before getting another GTA out. Leaks were bound to happen with this thing sitting in the oven for so long.

I know gta is now stuck in a perpetual cycle of new york, LA, and miami, but miami is always shit

vice city managed to be good in spite of it because the game was evolving drastically in that time, moving to a (celebrity) voiced protagonist, an actual plot, more side activities, more stuff with holdings and unlockables etc

now though, it's just a fucking boring flat environment at sea level

it's like when assassin's creed went from interesting massive historical european structures to short american homesteads and lost the verticality that made the series what it was

The chances of Rockstar creating a lackluster or boring open world map is 1/1000. I know some people view Red Dead Redemption 2 as a putrid turd, but it is undeniable that the map and environmental design itself is the best in the entire medium.

Miami/Florida is an absolute gold mine for GTA content.

As much as I dislike large open world maps as articulated in another thread, rockstar is literally the LAST company I trust to fuck up a map. The area in GTAV for instance came out well after Skyrim and Farcry 3 and yet still had a nice, mostly contained not overly large map.

Gta v had a wack map, considering there are large parts of the map severely underused. The casino wasnt used, the horse track wasnt used, in general I thought the entire San Palomino or whatever the fuck it was called underdeveloped in the story game.

For multiplayer its a different thing ofcourse.

Some of the best Trevor moments happen there. Who cares. You barely do anything in Shoreside Vale in GTA3. Does this mean the map is bad because you barely have any story missions? Plenty of fun to be had.

That's why I think they'll do the entire state of Florida. There's rumors it's GTA: America and will have multiple states.

Florida is mostly flat though, and the only other real interesting part from a gameplay perspective aside from Miami would be Orlando (for the amusement parks), maybe a one off at Cape Canaveral. Maybe you can have gta-style satire about The Villages and Scientology-central Clearwater... but for the most part, it would be a lot of driving through swamps, flat grasslands, and waterfront retirement communities.

I still want a Toronto GTA... just so you can have GTA:GTA.

I loved that area because it was tailor made for stunt jumping and car fun.

It's an area for clowning around and having fun so yes, good for mp but also sp if you like messing around with that stuff too. My Shoreside Vale comparison sticks because that area is similar. Doesn't have much in the way of gameplay because it's the last island but what sticks out is the terrain and how it differentiates itself from the prior two islands. Lots of hills and cliffs. Sandy Shores is also perfect for ATVs and buggies.

GTA maps are great in that there's usually something for everyone. If you're the type that likes to just play around long after you've beaten the game they make areas exclusively for that.

Rockstar is one of the few developers left that still has a "create your own fun without us telling you what to do" ethos and I love it. I can't wait to play RDR2 now that I'm back into games for real.

Could you imagine in GTAVI running from the law and being stuck in the Florida wilderness? It'd be fucking dope.

Like in GTASA when you leave Los Santos and go to the country.  They could mix Red Dead with GTA. :hyper

it's true, my biggest issue with vice city was that it was only committed to delivering the city experience, and that's what was flat and boring (IMO)

I still had plenty of fun with it at the time due to other leaps and bounds over 3

Replaying and beating GTA III, Vice City recently, and playing a lot of San Andreas, IV, V, and RDR2 recently, Vice City is my favorite GTA by a long shot.

You have freedom regarding how you reach the ending. The businesses you buy, and more importantly the order, combined with smart saving (not buying or needing weapons/ammo from stores), along with getting bonuses from side activities, influences your creativity and decision making in story missions.

The soundtrack, environmental design, mood, humor, use of color, absolutely everything on point. Story has no filler. Being a psychopath business mogul in Miami is an amazing open world power fantasy.

GTA VI has a lot of drug related mechanics most likely. Being a drug dealing kingpin in the modern American nightmare known as Florida, with beaches, islands, and swamps, sounds baller.

I don't like any GTA besides V really. Mostly just because the QoL gameplay stuff like checkpoints. I played the older games on PS2 but honestly they were too frustrating because the controls were janky and no checkpoints. I just remember redoing parts over and over and it really made me dislike the campaigns and I mostly just drove around causing chaos and trying to have fun escaping the police.

GTAV is the first GTA campaign I really enjoyed from start to finish with no issues. Plus living near LA it was super cool to see the city recreated so well in modern visuals.

Looking forward to VI since it'll have the QoL stuff as well. I don't really like Rockstar games before RDR invented checkpoints.

PS2 GTAs were very jank but I did like the atmosphere and the radio stations in them. Really wish we got something other than those halfassed remakes, with much improved features like improved checkpointing and gameplay/control refinement.

Never felt PS2 games were jank or had bad qol. Back then almost everything except a few was jank until Resident Evil 4 mainstreamed the closed in third person camera. Things started to be less janky for everyone in the next generation when gameplay styles pushed to evolve and become more homogeneous.

That advice assumes the lock-on is targeting what you want and not some random person running by. III and VC don't operate on any kind of logic.

Also there's more benefits to the second analog actually being used than just lining up shots.

GTAIII came out before Halo, way before the second analog stick for aiming was even mainstream. Vice City was after, but eh. Got better with GTAIV and I've played III, VC, and SA multiple times on ps2 without any issues. In fact, that's my preferred method of playing them.

GTA III came out after plenty of games understood the necessity of separating the camera and character controls. Tons of PS1 games supported dual analog, WASD+Mouse was dominant on PC, console FPSes were attempting to replicate that back to at least Turok, TimeSplitters used the "Halo method" before Halo did, etc.

I'm pretty sure the PS2 era trilogy doesn't use the second analog for anything, just the button under it. It's absolutely a legitimate critique.

What PS1 games used dual analog besides Ape Escape (which used it in a gimmicky fashion)?

I'm not saying it's not a genuine critique I just don't find them that janky relative to their era. Didn't realize Timesplitters came out before Halo.

Thinking back, an early hook for saints row was how it controlled well for an open world game. On consoles, all the open world games were pretty sloppy, even with dual analog free aim. Driver 3 on Xbox had me wishing for lock on aiming.

Yeah, I saw a thread on neogaf couple weeks back saying Saints Row 2 controlled poorly.

Um, for the time, Saints Row 1 and 2 were easily the controlling open world games. I was amazed how much better SR controlled than GTASA, hell even GTAIV, which it beat to market.
