A 57 on an organic chemistry exam that I barely studied for. Class average was a 31 (high 20's to mid-30's was the typical average), and anything over a 70 was an "A." The professor was a sadist, frequently putting questions on the exams that our recitation instructors -- people who were getting their PhD's in organic chemistry -- couldn't answer. I actually heard one of the recitation instructors say to a student, "sometimes I can't complete his exams (note:
our exams, not graduate exams) in the time allotted" I was like "Wtf!? If
you can't do it, how are
we supposed to do it?"

Needless to say, I learned my lesson for the second exam.
