Connection stuff is overrated. Just being in any of the 14 top law schools in the US is connection enough. You'd also want a high GPA, if nothing else to get on the Law review staff.

some of our best worst employees got 4.0s, and many of our best got 2.0s. why? smart folks don't like academic rigor -- they get the basic principles, and then blow their "study time" on world of warcraft or smoking pot. they usually say "fuck homework" and then go ace tests -- which are usually about 70% of the final score.

mediocre folks think they hafta study and memorize to succeed, but they never grasp the basic principles of what they're studying. they get the 30% homework weighting and a consistent 80-90% of the 70% test weighting, which usually translate to As/Bs in courses. wouldn't hire 'em! gimme a sly lazy smarty over an overly-ambitious middling intellect any day!

on top of that, the study fegs are usually stress factories with underdeveloped networking and/or social skills destined to fail in the workplace. fuck 'em! in the end, it really *is* all about your connections, which is why we all end up working for frat boys!

(for the record, I got a 3.7 in CS and a 4.0 in English in my degree programs. that has done fuck-all for my career.)

UT is a good school tho, it depends on what classes you take as in every school. And imo, having a 3.7 in film school isn't impressive. I doubt many of the great filmakers even went to film school, and if they did they didn't do great (Spielberg)
