I got banned for six months for saying that I don't understand the appeal of Guitar Hero DS to anyone but little kids (the reasoning being that most adults will mostly not be playing it in public, and if they're home, they'll just play the console versions).

The reason I was banned?  For trolling Nintendo.

He seems to have extremely thin skin.  Maybe it's an insecurity thing?  I dunno.  The last time I got banned was in Dyack's thread about NeoGAF moderation in which I questioned his ability to manage the mods so that bannings were more consistent and less emotional.  Since the thread was left open, I felt it was fair game for discussion.  I wasn't even trying to insult him at all.

As for Dragona, my goal again is to get an explanation, not a reduction.  Because they have to realize that their irrational, uncalled for bans can actually have an effect on people (in this case, my online leagues).  I wasn't trying to say anything remotely ban-worthy and wasn't even trying to insult or call out anyone, which I've been known to do from time to time.

well, you definitely got your answer-- a lot of bannings are emotional there. there are so many people on the site that it's okay to ban people for lighter offenses.  The one rule I remember was making fun of Gerstman's weight--like someone would make a fat joke then 10 people would quote him and tell him he would get banned (and the person would.)  Sure, the guy saying the fat joke is kind of a jerk, but I can't think of another site where that would get you banned.
