Yep, you can only direct so much blame on the GAFstapo. In the end, it's a community, which probably grew a bit too large too fast, and now it's finding itself in the position of being very respectable (buying into the myth of its own greatness), which means canning any impromptu comedy that may upset a select crowd (which will demand justice and possibly retribution), banning scans and, well, anything that other sites, magazines and companies demand that it bans. To whatever end message boards can be compared to political situations, it's basically a totalitarian and very strict climate. Unless you count the parties thrown by the administration, of course.
