i got my new sound system today... yay

I installed it myself.  a 1000 watt Audiobahn amp with an 800 watt 10" Audiobahn sub. 

It took about 7 hours to install because i had to find a good place for the REM wire.  My HU doesn't have anywhere for it, so I had to attach it to an open accessory fuse.

holy fuck is it worth it though.  it felt good to do it myself too.  I ran all the wires through the door panels and back paneling, put the sub box in the open area behind the seats and mounted the amp on top of it.

so far i've done all the modifications on my truck myself which makes me feel good about it.

And the sub is loud enough to make a nice impact, but it's not violent enough so i all hear is rattling.  it's fucking perfect.

  I forgot to mention it's 5 channel, so it powers my door speakers as well.  rewiring those were a fucking bitch.  But they sound amazing now.  I put them on HP so that they don't burn up my amp, but they're as loud as they were before the amp at like 1/4 of the way up on my stereo.  so fucking awesome.

Fast forward to about a month ago. He bought another stereo system off a friend. Even though it was used a bit, it was pretty nice, about as good as the one he had before. Surprise surprise, 3 days ago someone broke into his truck again at the same spot. Grabbed his stereo system and a fresh 1/8th and a pipe. He had his steering wheel locked this time though.

So yeah. Buy a fucking alarm if you don't trust your neighbors. For all the work and money you put into it you better make sure it doesn't get ripped off.

oh yeah, definitely.  i have an alarm.  that was the first thing i got.  f 150's are the most stolen vehicle in Texas.  I need to get my truck tinted now.  I don't want to do that myself though, i've seen how it turns out if you fuck up.

It kind of scares me because my amp has a light that is ALWAYS on, even when the truck is off.  So I'm a bit paranoid.  i'm going to cover it up with a jacket or something at night.

my truck won't start if the alarm is going off.  even if they rip out the the receiver and make it shut up, the ignition block will still be in place and it's not going anywhere.  my keys also are programmed specifically for my vehicle, so they'd have to get one with my trucks programming to start the engine.

and for speakers, most modern cars, even crap like hyundai's have decent highs in them now.  that shouldn't be a problem.  my stock 6x8's were awesome.

That's why I didn't make mine so loud.  My amp is powerful because it powers all my speakers too.  My sub is powerful enough so that my music sounds better.  I don't want to ride around driving a big vibrator.
