1. You can open car trunks - we already knew this - but it seems that you can store weapons in there.
2. Cops don't swarm after you and instantly know where you are. You have to be seen in order to be chased after authorities. They also use actual tactics now, such as splitting up into teams.
3. You can now rob banks at your leisure.
4. You can now kick down doors. This is good news, because you may find some useful hideouts while on the run from the cops.
5. You can now see the road behind you via rear view mirrors.
6. Environments are more interactive. Anyone who has spent considerable time with the past 3d games know that they have gas stations. You could blow them up with a simple shotgun shot, but now, you can simply send a car into them. Real time car damage is also included.

The Yahoo! preview from last night said that time will be more important in the way you do missions and the like and this will be hinted at in the trailer, but I haven't found anything yet.

Totally agree with Willco and Futami on this one, I'm actually pretty impressed with how they managed to improve the graphics, but unless they do some MAJOR rehauling of the control scheme and the mission system, I'm not interested in the slightest.

But, I think I read somewhere (maybe even earlier in this thread) that they are using a new physics engine or something like that. Wouldn't that automatically mean it had to be a different experience? Or are you guys referring to the types of missions that you have to do and the auto-aiming and stuff?

Yes, you're right. It utilizes Euphoria and Rage.

Even the missions will be completely different. They've said that "in previous GTA's you might have felt like a slave." Now you have more freedom over what you want to do.

GTAIV, from the info we have compiled, looks like a modern day Oblivion.

Gunplay and all that is supposed to have gotten a major overhaul. All that complaining about the shitty targeting and boring gunplay has finally broken through to Rockstar.

I do agree that the proof needs to be in the pudding though. I'll also be holding my breath until an actual demonstration is shown.

The story is supposed to be much more focused (as far as Niko's plight in America). I think the game is going to be more coherent in that, its the type of game one would want to play till the end (to see the outcome to the main storyline...instead of a rags to riches story like in past GTAs).

had they not improved the graphics at all, opting to devote the next-gen power to making the game more lifelike -- improved npc ai, dynamic mission structure, and multiple story branches -- i would buy it in a heartbeat.

But it's being developed around being played with an xbox controller now. Plus it's going to have exclusive content and achievements. Even if I had a ps3, I would get it for 360 instead.

Before half of you tell me to go play Postal 2 if I want to piss on things, take a look at some of these scenarios.

• You're sitting at a red light, obeying traffic laws as you usually do when the light turns green and you're a little slow on the draw. The impatient prick behind you begins the typical diatribe of yelling and horn blazing and you snap. Now ordinarily, you'd unload a few rounds right through the windsheild, but what if you had a non-violent alternative to vent your frustrations? That's right, instead you whip it out and give his windsheild a nice golden shower.

• You're walking along and come across one of those coffee shops that you just love to hate. It's turtle-necked iSnobs from wall to wall. You got it, whip it out and add some real flavoring to those f*cking lattes.

• Sugar in the gas tank? How about a little piss as well?

• Congratulations! You have made your way to the top of the Empire State Building. What better was to celebrate such an event than by pissing over the side?
