In the gamefaqs 2009 "best game ever" poll, SMG lost to Call of Duty 4, and FF7 wound up winning the whole thing. So thankfully SMG probably won't win.

Although it's not like CoD4 or FF7 are better choices.

Zelda fans vote because they need something to do while waiting on that train in spirit tracks
Final Fantasy fans vote because they don't actually need to play FF13 to play FF13
Shenmue fans are too busy speculating about what Ryo in Sega Racing All-Star means
Nintendo fans don't have the new Pokemon yet, so they need something to do at recess

same... the one zelda with the awesome ice dungeon and the iron ball gets all the hate while the one with the boring ass items and "XXXX TEMPLE" gets called the best game ever :duh
