Title: Ideally, where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Living in a nice little house, that's completely powered by solar panels, where I just do fun and creative things all day. :doge

Career: Being in a supervisory/managerial position. (already have my name in for a few promotions, so the next two months will see whether I get on that track or not). Though, 10 years from now will also put me in range of thinking more about retirement than work (that will put me at 19 years of service. Can go at 25, but always saw myself hitting 30 years at least).

personal: A family. I hope. Though if it doesn't happen in the 5 year range, I don't know if that will still be a goal when the timeframe is stretched to 10 years. :-\

Since joining my company 2.5 months ago, they've developed more vacancies in my department than filled positions (for project managers) which I guess is a good thing for me. The brain drain is real tho.

If I go back to school then I'm hoping for some sort of stable employment as a teacher/researcher but that does require putting life on hold for a long time to get a PhD and I'm already 28.

If I strike it rich somehow then I'll probably be a permanent grad student. :doge

Still living a good life in Boston. I've cut down my physical possessions to the bare minimum. I'm a much better cook and make dinner often. I'm probably still working in software with a couple contributions to big-name open source projects. My studio apartment is closer to the city and has hardwood floors. My parents have accepted my homosexuality. I've found a way to concentrate better. I have better sleep habits. I don't drink nearly as much.

10 years:

My days are spent writing screenplays for my agent, who sells them to Hollywood. I've directed at least one critically well-received full-length indie movie. I go out drinking with friends every couple nights or so. I live in a high-rise luxury one bedroom apartment in the heart of Boston. I'm well off enough that I've pulled my parents out of debt and have contributed to significant repairs and upgrades on my childhood home. I'm in great health and so are my closest family members.

I also hope to have at least one indie game or mobile game or RPGMaker game released to my name, possibly on Steam Greenlight.

Finally, I hope to be married, possibly with a kid. (I'm 34 now)

Personal wise: I don't know. I'm plenty happy with my wife and kids. If things stay the same, that would be more than enough.

All the above of course coming from a guy that things that 5-10 year plans are silly. Life throws too many wrenches in things (especially with a wife and kids) to realistically plan much of anything that far our.

Still just your run-of-the-mill Constable.

Promotion's not an option until you hit 7 years. I'll be hitting my 9th year in a month.

Living in California, working as a mid-senior level software engineer in Silicon Valley. I'll have a license and a car (these are my main goals for 2017). If my student loans aren't completely paid off yet then I should be damn close.

A whole new healthy social life. I like the one I have now, but realistically I'm not going to see most of these people more than once a year. I've never been to California before, but I've wanted to move there for a long time. I also want to have completed a handful of mobile apps and browser extensions. I have a bunch of ideas written down already.

Health-wise, I hope my digestive illness remains under control and that I'm back to lifting weights as consistently as I did in college.

10 years
Starting my own business. I have a clear idea of what I want to make. It's going to be extremely difficult and expensive (even when compared to the high price of starting any business) so I'd like to have a good amount of cash saved up, a better understanding of the technology involved, and make good connections with more experienced people.
