Ever fractured/broken a bone?
« on: November 28, 2007, 07:12:37 PM »
Arm: I fell out my high chair as a little kid and broke my arm. My mom said she didn't know I broke it initially because I didn't cry, and instead whimpered a bit. Looking back that's really descriptive of my personality

Wrist: During a JV basketball game I went up for a rebound, crashed into this fat kid, and then fell on my hand...the wrong way. Yeah, that wasn't pretty

Nose: Elbow to the face during a varsity basketball game. It was kinda funny because I didn't notice it at first, and was surprised when I stole the ball from some guy without him resisting. Then I looked down and saw blood all on the ball and my jersey  :lol

Finger: I was in a canoe race a couple years ago, neck to neck against my dad. We were coming up to a sharp turn and he was trying to make it - by ramming my canoe into the bushes. Eventually my canoe started speeding towards the branches of this fallen tree, so I tried to block them with my right hand. In the process I accidentally dropped my oar into the water, and as I tried to grab for it BAM my dad's canoe  rammed into the right side of my canoe, pinning my finger. Then I ran into the braches lol. Even with a broken finger I still beat his ass down the river :lol

broke my left arm

I was riding down a steep hill on my bicycle when I got cut off by another bicycle and fell face forward down the hill

I got up and my arm felt like jelly so to speak, walked back home and thats about when it started hurting

chicks dig casts tho so it wasn't all bad...

also I got my little toe caught in a trampoline spring and then I fell off and it snapped

that wasn't too bad

Broke my left thumb. Didn't think I had fractured it and decided to hit in the second game of the baseball doubleheader (broke it in the first). I went 2 for 2 somehow.

Played Diablo 2 quite a bit that summer.

Broke my clavicle when I was like nine.  I kept telling my mom it hurt and she told me to stop being such a pussy, that it was just a bruise.  Then my aunt took me to the doctor to get x-rays and it turned out I had a green stick fracture and had to wear a shoulder brace for like six weeks.

I've probably spent a few months in the hospital, but not for broken bones. Never broke anything.

It will make you want to die.

I broke my left wrist in 3 places when I was a kid, I was going up a slide when this girl I know decided she'd fly down it at the same time.

I broke my nose twice.  It's pretty noticeable because my nose is crooked and my right nostril always feels stuffier than my left.  The first time was when I was 3 and fell down a 4 foot table onto my nose.  The second time I maybe a year or two older and fell down some concrete stairs.  I checked like a year ago and the blood's still there.

I once cracked a windshield with my head.  I was about 4 and in the front seat (car w/o airbags) and I was playing with the seatbelt button.  The car was going about 40 mph and then my dad suddenly stopped because a van with a clown logo (this was in nevada and we were near circus circus) swerved in front of him.  from what I remember, I heard my mother scream, I looked up and saw a red rusted looking van, and then I literally FLY (my ass and legs were not touching anything) into the windshield and I feel a bump and I get knocked out.  I then wake up in the emergency room getting stitches.  I can't imagine how awkward that was for my parents to explain to the doctor.

I also got jaw surgery 3 times.  Worst thing ever.  They were trying to correct a slight unevenness in my jaw.  First time was REALLY bad (and they tell you jaw surgery will suck) and they used these things called distractors.  Basically they're like these little screw things on rails and you turn it a couple rotations a day (one rotation = one millimeter)  Unfortunately, the jaw healed too "short".  Second time they tried cutting it again and using screws.  That worked a LITTLE.  Third time they took bone from my rib and put it in place.  The third time was the worst because even though they took bone from my left rib, my right lung collapsed from too much mucus gathering in it.  The first night they gave me a suction thing (like what dentists have) and said to suck out as much crap as I could (I would cough it up), that failed and the next morning like 15 people are in my room scrambling to get me on a respirator.  I believe this part requires a new paragraph.

The first part of getting hooked up to a respirator (while conscious) is that they put these like stick things into your nostrils to widen it (this was 5 years ago so maybe my memory is fuzzy plus I was nearly dieing so..) and then they push these tubes down your windpipe through your nose and you can feel it touching the walls of your airpipe (which gives you a constant gag reflex thing) and the whole process is painful as fuck.  Once you're connected to a respirator (machine that "breathes" for you), you can't actually sleep at all because like you have to sort of time the machine with your lungs.  I think about once an hour, they would come to pour this fluid down the respirator tube into my right lung that would make the mucus bubble up out of my lungs and they would use a suction thing like the one they gave me earlier to suck out the mucus as it bubbled up.  This went on for about 12 hours and is by far the most painful experience I've ever had.  About every 4 hours they would give me a really strong pain killer but that only made me high for 30 minutes and resulted in me asking for more every ten minutes after that.  I also had a catheter so every slight movement hurt like hell.  Once they took the catheter out, the first piss you take has an air bubble in it so that also hurts.

Broke an arm from a baseball line drive.  Hurt like a bad bruise until my brother talked me into swinging a bat to "work it out."  Then it was much worse.

When I was 13, some bitch kicked my nose in a pool.  My nose bled like crazy for 15 mins or so.  By the time I got to the hospital, my shirt was all bloody.  The nurse thought I was in a gang fight or something.

Right wrist: I was 2 and my parents were swinging me over a puddle. My wrist got pulled out of its socket. I don't remember it happening, but I do remember the splinty cast thing I had to wear and that I used to bang it on stuff.

Left arm and wrist: Early 1997, I was 11 years old, and I was sleeping over my gram and pop's house. I was walking down the steps and I missed a step at the bottom, and fell. My left arm was extended, elbow locked, and I landed on my hand. The pain shot right through me but I thought it was just a sprain, so pop and I wrapped it and iced it and I was fine.

I went to see STAR WARS in theaters the next day, for the 20th anniversary. My mom, brother, and I were in line for like an hour and a half lulz, and my brother and I were fighting and he hit my arm or something. It hurt more after that, and we went home and had dinner after the movie, then I asked my mom to take me to the hospital. Turns out a couple growth plates in my wrist were broken, as well as one of the bones in my lower arm (I forget which one). Had a purple cast up to my bicep.

Right arm: Summer/fall of 2007. I'm at a local park with two of my closest friends. It's being remodeled and there's a pile of dirt in one section. These little 9-ish year old boys are jumping it with their bikes. So my friends and I are all like, "we're bigger than them, we can do that too." We decide that I'll go first.

Yeah I don't know if I picked up too much speed or what, but I sailed right off the top of that pile, lost my bike in mid air, landed on the basketball court, slid a couple feet, then my bike landed on top of me. The first thing that hurt was my hip, because I scraped all up and down my right side. But when I tried to use my right arm to help me up, I knew it was broken. One of my friends lived across the street and we went over and I called my dad to take me to the hospital. He laughed at me. :lol  Yellow cast up to my elbow, so at least I could still bend my arm this time! I was also able to slide the cast off to scratch and wash my arm because I had pulled a bunch of the padding out after my arm swelled.

I've also had two concussions, once from falling down the stairs when I was like 16 or 17, and once sometime when I was a kid. But I've NEVER had stitches!!
