Little details that where emphasized just enough to stand out but not enough to be blatant. For example:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
When they arrive at the gate and are ordered to release their firearms, Chuck fumbles with his gun. This obviously is because he's not really a federal marshal.
[close]
I feel that this is one of the best usages of a twist ending I've seen in a very long time.

The biggest tell IMO was when he's talking to the doctor about the crazy woman and he says:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
"How can she not know where she is?" and the doctor just kinda shrugs.
[close]
That was the part when I thought, okay, I think I see where this is going.

There's a part where these rednecks speed off in a boat and the giant wake looks EXACTLY like how waves look in Miyazaki movies. They did that on purpose, but of course the :uguu crrowd got all up in arms over whitey ripping off animu.

I'm bored so I was flipping around just vegging out watching TV and I stumbled upon something called Sorority Wars on lifetime. This is the most hilarious piece of shit movie I've ever seen. Like all lifetime movies its taking something that is completely frivolous and complete bullshit but treating it in the most earnest and serious manner possible. It is awesome.

The only Lifetime movie that I saw was about a teenager addicted to internet porn.  The movie starts off with the kid having a near incestuous relationship with his mother and then only gets more (unintentionally) hilarious from there.

The House of the Devil: Pretty great, loved the retro vibe and look of the film lots of tense and creepy moments, the chick was pretty cute enjoyed it a lot more than Paranormal Activity, can't wait for The Innkeepers.

Shutter Island: Loved it! best Scorsese film since The Aviator, you can see the twist coming from a mile away and there are a lot of hints to it during the film but like fistfull said the way they explained and presented it made it seems flesh, the film is also very beautiful and had some excellent performances.

The guy I described was at my local (at the time) Best Buy on the Tuesday Lion King came out on DVD. He was hovering around the new release table looking like a sex offender. Whenever someone would grab a copy of Lion King he'd attempt to start a conversation which basically resulted in him telling them to look up Jungle Emperor Leo to see the TRUE and superior Lion King.

Its only his second feature since The Aviator (plus the Dylan and Rolling Stones docs). You coulda said "better than The Departed" and had the same effect.

I feel completely differently about it. To me, The Incredibles is the only Pixar film that I can constantly rewatch. I could probably watch that one once a week with no problem.

The Incredibles is 100% the best animated feature by Pixar. It does the whole entertainment for everyone better than any other Pixar movie since the Toy Story ones.

Just got back from seeing Alice In Wonderland in 3D.

The movie mostly sucked. If it wasn't for Johnny Depp being Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, it would have been painful to watch. The only other thing that was good about the film was the Tron Legacy trailer before the film. :hyper

Final 30 minutes of Toy Story 3 leaves ShoWest in tears
Quote
So what can I tell you about “Toy Story 3” without revealing any significant surprises? … Er … Um … Well, for starters, you should bring Kleenex. Lots & lots of Kleenex. Because I can guarantee you that you’re going to spend a good portion of the last 30 minutes of this film in tears.

I mean, I sat in that hall today surrounded by hardened industry professionals. Exhibitors who care more about how much popcorn & soda they’re selling than the movies they’re currently showing at their multiplexes. And these jaded theater owners – as “Toy Story 3” entered the home stretch – were openly weeping. Tears streaming down hundreds of faces as the ultimate fate of Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the whole Andy’s Room gang was decided.

Speaking of which … I’m going to be very interested to see what sort of rating “Toy Story 3” gets. Because this movie gets really dark and scary at times. In fact, there’s one sequence toward the end of “TS3” where the toys are put in such peril (and then handle this literally horrifying moment with such grace, heart and courage) that I wonder if this moment in the movie may be just too much for little-little kids to handle. But then again – given how the sequence in question pays off, with this great character-driven “But of course!” moment (which got a huge reaction from the crowd today in Le Theatre Des Arts) – I honestly wouldn’t change a frame of this film.

Here’s something else that you’re going to want to do before seeing “Toy Story 3”: And that’s rewatch “Toy Story” & “Toy Story 2.” You see, Unkrich and Anderson have made a point of filling “TS3” with all sorts of witty tie-ins, clever call-backs to the first two films. And in order to really appreciate what Lee & Darla have done here, the first two “Toy Story” movies should still be fresh in your mind. (That way -- for example -- you'll realize that the last image in "Toy Story 3" echoes the very first thing that you see in the original "Toy Story.")

Another thing worth noting here is – while “Toy Story” was basically a buddy movie and “Toy Story 2” was more of a road picture … “Toy Story 3” – in its heart of hearts -- a caper. There’s at least one sequence (where I think it’s Dave Foley doing the voice of that Fisher Price phone) that gives off a strong “Ocean's Eleven” vibe. Which is another reason that it was so great that Pixar & Disney decided to show this work-in-progress version of “TS3” here in Vegas at the ShoWest crowd.

Well, Up had me teared up in ten minutes so I can believe this.

The Rock was decent enough. The lead actors made the Bad Boys films, which were still big, dumb movies that would have been big, dumb, terrible movies without actors of that caliber. Pearl Harbor and the Transformers movies were Bottom 100 of all time material.
They might have gotten charismatic actors but most of the fun in watching Bad Boys either has to do with gun fights or gun fights during a car chase.  Acting had a minimal impact on my enjoyment of it.

I didn't watch Pearl Harbor but Transformers was enjoyable if you just skipped anything involving exposition (about half the movie).  Same for the sequel.

It is a good bet to trust him with hundreds of millions of dollars to make a balls-to-the-wall straight action movie.  I'm 99.9% sure he can shoot a car chase better than Scorsese or Wes Anderson or whatever.

Atonement - moved a bit slow for me at the start, and I generally had trouble staying interested.  Not bad, I just found it all a bit disjointed and slow.

But the really, really long steadycam shot in the latter part of the film on a beach during the war which is pretty impressive.

No?

Definitely Maybe, he played a normal dad. In Nine he was anything but a cocky douche.

He does play the cocky thing really well (Blade Trinity) and the cocky douche really well (Wolverine). Why is it people always put the douche in it? Just makes you seem like someone who's a social introvert and has never known people with a fast mouth, but that weren't douches.

Now someone who is witty is a douche?

I wrote this when he was cast as Deadpool, but it seems like it will continue to work:

Ryan Reynolds cast as sarcastic super hero

Los Angeles, CA - In a surprise move, some Hollywood studio cast the affable Ryan Reynolds as the main character in their latest super hero film where a costumed vigilante fights justice with a sardonic wit.

"We really had to search long and hard for a handsome actor with chiseled good looks that brought earnest smug to the character," said the studio executive, "And we were astounded to see this test footage with [Ryan] Reynolds acting cocky and sarcastic - it was range we never knew he had."

Reynolds, best known for his roles in The Amityville Horror and The Nines, has struggled against being typecasted as a serious, brooding actor. The above average director, who will helm this light action-adventure picture - in what is sure to be as stretch for him - had initial reservations about casting Reynolds.

"See, this guy isn't like all the other super heroes," said the director, "He's a real cheeky f-----. And I wasn't sure [Ryan] was capable of biting sarcasm and deadpan delivery, but he knocked it out of the ballpark."

The fan community, which had been campaigning Reynolds for the role since it was leaked that a script was being written, was notably excited.

"Ryan Reynolds is perfect for this character," wrote one Internet fan on his message board, "He perfectly captures the emotional depth that this character needs - also he is muscular and really sarcastic."

Reynolds will reportedly get into shape for the role by making cutting and derisive remarks in high pressure situations, although friends close to the actor say that it will be revealed later on that he has a heart of gold.
