Today I got together a bunch of DVDs, some books, some games, and a load of VHS tapes and took them to Half Price Bookstore. There was so much stuff that I couldn't just carry it in, so I had to put all of it in three trash bags. I figured up that I probably spent about $800 on everything. Half Price Bookstore gave me $66.

Depends on the quantities.  I don't know anyone who is big into VHS so I imagine that place only gave a dime or a quarter per tape.  DVDs were probably a dollar or two.  Books about the same.

Just my guess.  What did you sell GR?

I've had times in my life like that, where I've hocked stuff for some cash (a 400 dollar gold bracelet for 80 bucks). It's a shitty feeling, but all that stuff is just garbage and clutter. If you're not going to use it, you might as well sell it. Just don't buy that crap anymore.

I haven't bought a DVD or movie since Gladiator came out. I haven't bought a CD since ... 2001 (NIN - The Fragile)?

I'm thinking about selling off a bunch of my crap- mostly my dvds, which I realized looking at them today there is no reason for me to own most of them.  I haven't watched anything off of my shelf in almost a year and I have netflix.

What did you sell GR?

I sent off a bunch of moldy VHS tapes [mainly movies that I already have on DVD, random crud that I'll never watch again, and some old Disney tapes [not the good ones though]], a stack of random anime series volumes [like volumes 1 and 2 of some series that would be cheaper to just buy the complete collection of than to buy the remaining individual volumes], some DVD movies of stuff that I'll never watch [I think Scooby-Doo was in there somewhere], a few Xbox and Gamecube games [a couple sports titles and Morrowind, which I have on PC now], and about 14 manga volumes [which was comprised of stuff that wasn't that good to begin with and I wouldn't read again]. There were also a few random books, nothing particularly notable and mostly stuff that I bought really cheap somewhere else.

I was really hoping to get a bit more than that, but the feeling of just getting rid of some of the clutter that's filling my room was worth it.
