Led Zeppelin... also check out Hendrix and Deep Purple if you're on a classic rock kick.

Zep next, but don't start with IV imo. I like starting with the first album, at least with classic bands who's first albums are great (Zep, Jimi, etc)

The bluesy stuff on Zep I is very accessible, and you'll see growth with each album

The newest Sunset Rubdown album is cool

High quality

High quality

Also got OB4CL pt. II. I'm impressed. Even with all the hype (or maybe because of it) I was a little skeptic, but it's pretty great. Best Wu album in I don't know how long

High quality

High quality

edit: Oh yeah, the new Fuck Buttons leaked. There's a lot less noisy drone, and it's generally much more cohesive than Street Horrrsing. I mean, that sound is still there, but it's also almost danceable. Imagine an entire album with songs like Bright Tomorrow.

I thought this alright. Certainly a good album but it wasn't my thing at all.

Good album. Really liked the mix of blues and rock here a lot more than what I heard from the Stones.

Damn solid for a debut, I think.

This album takes everything good about their debut and enhances it. Good stuff.

I thought this was pretty good but I thought I fucked up by not listening to Paranoid first. It was good but nothing that made me crave for more. Good but...pretty boring.

In my recent batch of music it's all been pretty good music but NOTHING spooge worthy, like Bowie or Floyd.

The Clash, Velvet Underground and Queen are next.

I don't see why not. I'm listening to VU and Nico and it's pretty solid. Nothing great but they definitely put a lot more into their compositions and arrangements than the last few groups I've listened to, at least based on this album.

The original won't allow for embedding so ya get this.

1 year later and I'm still listening to M83's Youth album and Graveyard Girl had kind of become my defacto driving to work song.  It's the first one on my main playlist in my car and I'm too lazy to change it so I fucking hear it almost everyday.  Thankfully, it's still awesome.

Decent album I guess...not my thing...again. Good songs here and there, though.

This album is full of a lot of good tunes. I think it'll grow on me since its style of rock is the type of rock I like: slow, emphasis on compositions and advanced arrangements and experimentation. I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics upon first listen but the lyrics appear to be philosophical, which is the type of lyrics I like in my rock rather than stupid love pop songs.

Pretty good album. Too many tracks, though. Didn't grab me as much as I thought it would.

Porcupine Tree, and Pixie's Doolittle are next. I might as well throw in Brian Eno's Another Green World because I seriously need something that's remotely electronic in my playlist after this plethora of rock over the past few days.

You might be digesting things too quickly. Are you giving things more than initial impressions of 1-2 listens? I didn't like everything on Let It Bleed at  first. On the other hand I loved Night At the Opera the first time I heard it. It really covers so many areas of rock

I listen 3-4 times for the shorter albums.

I'm usually apt on what type of music I'll like. So if something doesn't wow me the first time I listen, but I think it has potential, I keep that in mind and continue listening.

Seriously I need more stuff in the vein of Bowie and Pink Floyd. I want more albums from them but right now I'm on a 2 album per group/artist rule.

Ziggy Stardust is just as amazing as Low.

Despite all the others albums I've been listening to the past few days I have continually gravitated towards Ziggy Stardust, Low, Sgt. Pepper's, Abbey Road, The Wall (at least disc 1), and Dark Side of the Moon.

Wrapping this up right now:

What a strange album. It's kind of awesome though. I have a feeling it'll get better with repeat listens. I'm going to continue digging through her studio stuff.

Himu I'd recommend some classic rock but my tastes are really weird, here are some of my favorite albums though (I have a similar love for Dark Side and Bowie)

- Do not skip Led Zeppelin III, seriously my favorite out of the first four, screw your two album limit
- Get Tumbleweed Connection and Goodbye Yellowbrick Road from Elton John

I'd post more but I seem to have lost my Zune and that had my old library on it. Balls.

Alright, confession time: I haven't listened to Pearl Jam since I was about 10 or 11 years old. I'll have to go through their discography. Now is probably a good time since I've been doing a bit of a 90s alt-rock refresher lately; today I've listened to enough of The Smashing Pumpkins to make Diablo's vagina wet. Anyway, are there any big stinkers I should avoid?

Can someone explain how seeding works at what.cd? Seriously. I've dled tons of stuff and I want to seed but it doesn't seed a lick. I just joined the other day and I'm worried about my ratio.

I can dl anything without worrying about ratio for the first two weeks right?

There's 5 seeds for Live at Wembley 86, but I wasn't sure if that was the same thing that willco suggested.

It's pretty slow starting out now that the site is so huge, so it just take some time. I checked and you are connectible, so it's not like peers can't download from you or something. Just be sure to seed everything you snatch instead of, like, only half.

As far as ratio goes, you don't have to worry at all about ratio watch until you download over 4.9GB. Past that, the required ratio varies with how much you've downloaded. All the details are here: http://what.cd/rules.php?p=ratio

edit: And yes, that's the same album

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King

If you like this, check out The Decemberists. I wasn't hip to them until recently, and I'm sure there a lot more knowledgeable fans on their discography that could give you a more specific recommendation.

Go on Pirate Bay or one of the torrent tracks to get Live at Wembley. Or - fuck! - buy it (like I did).

It's easily one of the best live albums of all-time. My greatest regret in life is not being able to see Freddie Mercury perform live. Rarely can you actually hear a performer having fun on a live album. And I don't mean laughing or making jokes, but you can just tell he's enjoying every minute of it when he's up there.

I like The Decemberists but I don't get this comparison. Then again, I haven't heard their last album if that's what you're referring to in specific.

You have to seed literally everything you've downloaded. Even when I was doing that when I first got on there I don't think I was getting more than 40-50 MB upload a day from the 80 or so albums I was seeding 24/7, and I'm sure it's only worse now that the amount of users has tripled. Just keep on downloading (and seeding everything) and don't worry about your ratio until you start getting close to 5GB. There's a grace period for a reason.

And all the freeleech staff picks will definitely help. Get the FLAC, V0, 320 -- everything if you can afford the bandwidth and HDD space.

I disagree. I think the 70's are so great because of the fact everything was so dark. It was a very cynical decade, coming off the 60's, art wise. Compared to the happy go lucky 80's and the angsty 90's, and the innovative yet vapid 60's.

I actually like some disco because I like to see where the inspiration for hip hop and electronic music came from. I think the anti-disco movement is more of an anti-homosexual movement more than anything else. Kinda like how everyone seems to think electronic is for gays.
