Uh, yeah. But I find the 70's to be far more cynical. 70's is full of movies and music that are like "fuck you" to about every single movement. The Revolution will not be Televised. :o :bow And beyond music, the 70's was home of imaginative and pessimistic movies like Stepford Wives, Apocalypse Now, Clockwork Orange. The 60's, historically, is a fucked up decade, but the 70's resulted in a far more pessimistic attitude because the 60's were so fucked up.

At least that's my take.

I also find the 70's to be far more experimental, music wise. The 70's is king.

Don't forget David Bowie!

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station and Low all came out in the 70s!

Subterraneans > the 60's

I'm amazed Low came out in the 70's. It sounds like an 80's album.   :o

A lot of the artists and bands that emerged in the 80s formed in the 70s, so it's not that unbelievable. The sound you typically assign to the 80s has its roots in the late 70s.

Low is the only album, other than Ziggy Stardust, of Bowie's that I own. The rest are collections, such as the two-disc Singles set, Best of Bowie and The Deram Anthology. Oh, and I own Labyrinth.

I haven't listened to the full album in like ten years, but the only two singles I really like from the album I own multiple times over (covers and such).

Life on Mars? is probably one of my favorite songs in my entire library, though.

Ziggy Stardust is a better album than Hunky Dory, and I'll never say otherwise. I can listen to the whole album from start to finish, but Hunky Dory has some crap on it. Arguably, it has some of the best stuff of Bowie's career on it, as well.

Film in the 70s makes me hard. No joke, I got an erection just thinking about 70s films.

Ziggy Stardust>Hunky Dory

Hunky Dory has some utterly amazing songs on it that are better than the best songs on Ziggy imo but  yea, I forgot about the filler. I just checked my iPod and remembered it's missing four songs from Hunky Dory lol

Why does the new Twilight movie have such a great soundtrack?

Death Cab for Cutie, "Meet Me on the Equinox"
Band of Skulls, "Friends"
Thom Yorke, "Hearing Damage"
Lykke Li, "Possibility"
The Killers, "A White Demon Love Song"
Anya Marina, "Satellite Heart"
Muse, "I Belong to You (New Moon)"
Bon Iver & St. Vincent, "Roslyn"
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, "Done All Wrong"
Hurricane Bells, "Monsters"
Sea Wolf, "The Violet Hour"
OK Go, "Shooting the Moon"
Grizzly Bear, "Slow Life"
Editors, "No Sound but the Wind"
Alexandre Desplat, "New Moon (The Meadow)"

Is there some big joke I'm not privy to or has everyone lost their mind?

Hard to say when he's so secretive about the shit he's working on.  He is releasing a couple brand new songs in a few days, though.

As far as I can tell, yeah.

I guess it isn't such a bad thing when you consider how much deserved exposure it'll bring to many of these artists.  Still, Twilight?  :-\

Can you even imagine yourself buying an album with this cover:

If you like M83 and want something a bit more downtempo and melodic, Ulrich Schnauss would be a good start. Don't really listen to electro too much anymore tho, not sure what's popular nowadays, I guess you can give MSTRKRFT a try, you might like this one:
