Finished NMH2.  Demi is spot on with this game.  There's really no point to even keep playing the game as it doesn't get better as it goes, and there's no story, no ending and the last parts of the game are the worst because all they do with the gameplay is give more tedious levels (30 mins of fighting the same 3 guys over and over) and more tedious bosses.  I wouldn't be surprised in the game is more enjoyable on sweet difficulty because all least everything dies quickly, which should cut down on the repetition.  There was some good stuff here and there, but it's buried beneath a mountain of glaring game design flaws.  I don't know if the game problems are because it's a quickly rushed out sequel with an expectation of a directors cut for the HD systems, or if the design wast just shitty in the first place, but yeah; the level design is uninspired, the boss fights are annoying, and there's nothing else to do in the game.

You can tell a game has good combat/bosses when you can beat them on the highest difficulty without getting hit once.  This is because there are strategies and patterns and if you learn them and pull them off, things work as they should.  So when I check the boss faq for NMH2 and the strategies listed are "I got lucky and the boss drove off the edge of a cliff on their own" or "there is no actual way to dodge his teleport attack 100%; just keep retrying until you get lucky and win" you know that something has gone wrong.

At its best, NMH2 is Suda's take on his buddy Kojima's MGS boss fights.  Wacky, varied, ridiculous, and fun.  If NMH2 was simply 15 or so MGS level bosses it would be an amazing game.  But Grasshopper does not have the technical skill to pull the concept off and so you're left with 15 or so C- action game bosses and a non-amazing game.

While the original NMH may have had the same or similar gameplay flaws (it's been long enough that I can't remember and I have no interest in revisting that title), the rest of the product made up for its weaknesses and gave a reason to keep on playing.  NMH2 has nothing to do that for the weak gameplay.

I think everything to be said has been said by this point.  To me, the original NMH was in the 8-9/10 range and NMH is more like the 6-7/10 range.  My least favorite post-Killer 7 era Suda game for sure.

AC2 is SO GOOD.  This will be the first sandbox game where I actually complete the storyline.  I am not going to bother getting all the trinkets, but everything else is awesome.

You need to at least do all the crypts so you can get the AWESOME Armor of Altair.

Already done all of them.  8)  I did the crypts as soon as I had access to them.  They reminded me some kind of beautiful Zelda puzzle solving and 3d Mario platforming.  Best parts of the game as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't like the time based platforming but I loved the quick movement of the levels. Really well done.

There's an extra one (the Auditore family crypt) that you can unlock through uPlay too. It tells you the backstory for the Auditore family.

Hmmm...'Splosion Man is fun.  The animation is really good for an XBLA title.  Game seems like A LOT of trial and error, but as long as the checkpoints stay frequent I don't mind.

Wow the AC2 ending was stupid as hell.  Also, I never beat the original so is it explained why there are

Yeah, for 400MSP, I'm enjoying it as well. It's "trial and error" but more than that it feels like a platformer BUILT around the concept of speed runs. Very interesting choice. Also: avatar crap for free, gamerpics, YAY!

Isn't it because they'd want to subdue him rather than risk killing him? He's necessary; as for the rest of the crew, their information would be critical since they had taken him further than before.

Wait, you hated the original Mass Effect?  wtfffff, I didn't know you people existed!  :P

I've been playing BAYONETTA and omg it is washing the sick taste of NMH2 out of my mouth with BLISSFUL DELICIOUS CANDY.  Just beat the collesium in Ch.4  BOSS FIGHT WAS SO GOOD.  COMBAT IS SO GOOD.  AHHHHHH, FUN OVERLOAD.

...and playing more 'splosion man.  It's starting to get tough, but it's really fun.

I think I've only played four or five levels but have spent hours on the game.  The gameplay is so awesome that replaying levels is as much fun as going on to new levels.

I got like 40 hours in a week in that game and haven't touched it since :lol   it was a damn good week.  Of course, the games I love and want to replay have no fucking DLC.  On the other hand, there is still plenty left to do, it's just rehash stuff (using Jeanne, Infinite Climax which is just hard without witch time)

hopefully ME2 will have much better DLC support than ME1

FFVI is nothing like FF1-3.  FFVI is really story heavy like FFVII+ but in 2d form.  The cast and storyline is pretty awesome.  Gameplay is real good too.

It's good, but not to the detriment of all other 16-bit rpgs.

I prefer CC; better music, more interesting story.

Chrono Trigger is awesome.  Played it again on DS last year, reinforced that is probably my favorite jrpg.  It gets rid of everything I normally hate about jrpg and does it within a lighthearted story about time travel.

btw, I've been playing No More Heroes 2 since saturday and while I'm only at rank 8, I have to side with Demi and Bebpo.  But I didn't like NMH1 that much, so it's a battle of the game I like less.  It's most definitely not improved like AC2 and ME2.

This year has been pretty good. So far finished in 2010 + the score I'd give th games:

- Bayonetta - 7
- Overlord II - 6
- Darksiders - 7
- Dante's Inferno - 7
- Mass Effect - 9.5

Pretty crazy.

The only game I'm playing now is Fatal Frame IV. I'm not interested in Bioshock 2.
Heavy Rain should arrive this month. And next month GOW III and FFXIII :hyper

Yup smh

So I beat No More Heroes 2, what terrible final boss fight. The first form was good but the second was absolutely terrible, third form was whatever. I also didn't like the gun and bigger enemies, they were just sponges. I liked it but it's missing some of the style/oopmh the first had.

Plus it had this for one of the boss fights:

So all is kinda forgiven.

Yeah I liked the Margeret and Alice fights the best.  They actually had patterns that you could predict and counter.  Though Alice especially had too much HP.

Just 1000'd Bionic Commando. Pretty mediocre overall; if it weren't for the last 20% or so I'd say it's complete garbage. The swinging and soundtrack were far and away the best parts of the game.

And :lol at the Evangelion twist at the end.

Yeah, that one.  All those missile parts should have been 1 missile -> lasers -> 1 missile -> finisher.  3 missiles each time was stupid since they are easy and just a waste of time.

otoh, did bayonetta chapter 5 and it was zomg.  Did I miss a weapon in the earlier chapters?  In the shop it goes "Alt. Onyx, ???, Claws" (already have shotgun/sword).

Agreed on the missiles. Btw, since we both started the game recently, let me know if you ever wanna try the multiplayer stages.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you missed anything. I know there's another weapon that you can buy a second set for in the shop, but I think you find the LP pieces for it on chapter 8 or 9.

Played a bit of Uncharted 2 multi, just to get the 2 trophies you get from doing that. Wasn't too bad but I'm not a big multiplayer gamer - the Left4Dead influenced co-op mode was fun though. Our match was pretty balanced, and I actually got a few kills in there. Up to the final battle now, gonna beat it tonight. I really have to say, it's an excellent and absolutely beautiful game, with very very few niggling issues (lack of camera re-center and a few annoying set-piece battles).

is there a list of planets with anomalies? I'm not scanning all that shit.  I have 2 loyalty quests left and IFF.  I don't want this to end :'(  they better have some serious DLC...but I'm guessing all the mentions of ME3 in the game mean we'll get some bullshit like ME1.  Though maybe the arena thing will be better now that they've improved the combat so much.
