Ninja Turret Gun!
Ninja Missile riding!
Ninja Air Bike Driving!

Ninja Blade was Bayonetta before Bayonetta :O

The only complaint I have is the missions are fucking LONG (~1 hour) and you can't save mid-mission afaik.  So once you start a mission you need to committ a lot of time.  Will be sticking to 1 mission per night because of this.

I'm playing Raven's Wolverine game (the one that came out last year and runs on UE3). This game is FUCKING AWESOME. It plays super smooth and has some of the most hilarious kills I've ever seen, like ramming a dude's head into helicopter blades and impaling a guy on a 50-cal that's unloading into your chest. Then there's shit with boats that's just  :lol

Looks like they poured a ton of money into the game too. Too bad Singularity didn't have the same amount of love and care

Crap, I totally forgot about Wolvie's game. The demo for it was pretty badass. I've not seen it ANYWHERE. It must have had a sizable initial print run, tanked at retail, and no follow-up pressings, leading to its current unavailability.

Finally getting around to playing through Half-Life 2 in its entirety since Stoney mentioned it a few pages back and I remembered that I'd never finished it.  This is the third or fourth time I've started it, and I usually end up quitting during one of the lengthy vehicle chapters or during Ravenholm, but I'm past all of that at this point.

Playing this on a console is dampering my enjoyment of the combat due to the awful weapon-switching, preventing me to reacting to every scenario they way I'd like to.  Quickswap would remedy the problem, but requires some care to set up due to the way you cycle through the weapon "tiers", and you'll occasionally end up with a weapon in your swap that you didn't intend.  Otherwise it's fine.  I would've started on the PC version, but I've got Orange Box for 360 practically untouched and that's where I'll be playing Episodes 1 and 2 anyway.

There's really nothing else to add that hasn't been said already.  The game is pretty awesome and every section seems like there was a lot of care put into its design.  The puzzles, especially, are so intuitive that you never spend a lot of time on them, but make you feel pretty clever in having solved them anyhow.

I spent six hours doing all branches of the Selvaria DLC in Valkyria to get the bonus mission where you play as her in Valkyria form.

It was pretty much the same as her in normal form wtf.  I couldn't believe it when I ran up to some stupid generic soldier in my ULTIMATE VALKYRIA FORM and shot 8 million shots at him and he dropped to the ground and dodged them all.  wtf.  Was not worth all that effort.  At least I got her super gun for shocktroopers in the main game.  Bleh.

yeah, magus. Dont blame the game becuase you've played it before and snagged the good gear early.

My gaming playlist is currently disgusting.

Grinding golden guns in Red Dead, at the expense of actually playing to win. Soooo over it but almost done.

Farming items and grinding spell levels in Castlevania HD.

Thats it for the next few weeks.

Alright seriously, the original and Dracula's Curse are great, but I had more fun with the poop I just made 15 minutes ago than I did with Simon's Quest, so I think that kinda taints my memory of the NES installments

And I do miss the days when they were producing legitimately difficult games :'(

I think they were difficult just because of the hardware restrictions - like Ninja Gaiden's scrolling, making enemies reappear just because you went past their spawn spot.

Yeah someone (slime? Sceneman?) made a great post saying basically the same thing, except that it was about how old RE and Silent Hill were so much scarier than Alan Wake. These days I'm sorta of the opinion that a game being difficult should be something that comes about through design rather than shitty controls and technical constraints, but I guess that doesn't really work when devs are so concerned about pandering to all the baddies

Just finished Halo ODST on Legendary with a friend. We went back and did all the firefight and vidmaster achievements as well. It's an okay game, but the campaign would have been better if you didn't have to run around a gigantic, dull city in order to get to the next mission. And firefight is terrible compared to Gears. So slow and boring.

Still playing BlazBlue CS as well. Finished the story mode with 100% completion, and I liked it waaaaay more than BBCT's story. There's still some boring sections, but overall I thought it was pretty great. For a fighting game, the amount of effort ASW put into the story is kinda ridiculous. So after I unlocked Mu, I went and got the achievement for completing 100+ challenges. The challenges in this game are a whole lot harder than SF4's. I think there's 160 total, and there's no way in hell I'm going to try to complete all of them. Just completing 100 was hard enough.

These days I'm sorta of the opinion that a game being difficult should be something that comes about through design rather than shitty controls and technical constraints, but I guess that doesn't really work when devs are so concerned about pandering to all the baddies

These games still exist, but they mostly come from niche developers whose entire focus is making games with hardcore difficulty, like Cave. There's still some big budget, mainstream games that will destroy you without mercy, but you can count them on one hand for this gen.

I'm trying to play Wolfenstein (the one from last year), and it seems decently fun, but the amount of head bobbing is ludicrous.  Every time I sprint it feels like my head is splitting.  I can't remember the last time this has happened in a game.

So I guess I have found the genre I am awesome at?  Tile based srpgs.

Everyone kept saying Devil Survivor is really hard for the first 3 days and then gets easy.  I just finished Day 3 and the only time I've died was the first boss in the game day 1 because I hadn't started skill cracking, so I did that and went back and kicked his ass.  I don't get what was supposed to be so hard about this game.  It's just as easy as most megaten games these days.  Hit the weaknesses or hit hard physically, do all party attacks, focus on the leader in a pinch.  And the added srpg elements are pretty simple too: bring a +7 move demon to start out with and switch him when you've gotten where you want to be on the map in a turn or two; heal before/after attacks, use long range attacks when possible.  I dunno, it all seems pretty straightforward and the demon auction + demon search means you can get yourself a badass team of demons at anytime in a few mins.  I mean you want hard megaten you talk about Uroborous 2nd form in SJ, this stuff is no problem compared to that.

And then in the Tactics Ogre thread on gaf, everyone talks up the difficulty but uhh, it was one of my first srpgs and I never thought it was particularly frustratingly hard or anything.  I remember having a good ole' time playing through it.

But then I found Valkyria Chronicles to be incredibly hard and frustrating and 1000x more difficult than devil survivor, yet everyone says VC is pretty easy.

So yeah, I've discovered I am aligned with tile based srpgs and anything other type of srpg breaks my brain.

Network mode in BlazBlue CS is really a step back from Calamity Trigger. I know they don't want you to pick and choose who you're fighting in ranked match, but this matchmaking is SLOOOOOOOOW. Hope they patch this ASAP. At this rate it's going to take forever to get to level 50. :-\

Makoto is kinda hard to play online too. The lag really messes up the timing on her drive attacks. Think I'll be sticking with Ragna as my main with Makoto, Lambda, and Tsubaki as my side characters.

DUCKROLL JUST TOLD ME YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR SKILLS FROM THE SKILL BANK FOR ALL YOUR CHARACTERS

 :lol

I can't believe I went 4 days in the game without knowing this!  I thought it was like Nocturne where you had to make HARD NO TURNING BACK choices about which skills to keep and which to overwrite and lose forever.  haha, I've been building my main party like 3 nocturne MCs to complement each other so they have all the bases covered.  This is going to make an already fairly easy game into a super easy game where I destroy everything muhahhahahaha

Old school Castlevania >>> Generic, uninspired Metroidvania

Anyway, I'm at Gran Pulse in FFXIII and at first I was all uguuing and shit but now I'm getting tired of the obnoxious grinding.  Stage 8 of the Crystarium is designed to capitalize on that grinding, requiring you to rack up 5,000 to 10,000 CP to get a new ability.  Now I'm bored fighting the same enemies because of the mission set up.

Half of me wants to send this back today and the other half wants me to push forward since I'm far enough into the game.  There always seems to be a catch with this game.  It is fun but it is like SE wanted to punish or troll the player for playing the game as well.

I just sent it back in an hour ago.

I played through two more Cie'th stone missions and could barely stand it anymore.  Played about 30 hours of it (about 5 hours or so was me leaving the game paused to do other things)  The game makes it hard to like it.  Every enemy at this point has about 500,000 HP and much like gaining new abilities on the Crystarium at Stage 8, you just have the grind the enemy down.

Thought about playing around on emulators for the rest of today.  Gamefly says I'm finally getting The Saboteur, after having it on my queue for over eight months now!

Enemies have weaknesses. Hit them with their weakness magic, hit rav/rav/com and watch the fireworks and go to sleep. A lot of enemies have to be un-buffed at that stage of the game, so make syn/sab/med or some shit your default paradigm. When battle starts buff party and unbuff enemies, when de-protect and de-shell or whatever are activated, switch to rav/rav/com and unload a shit sandwich.

I'm playing "transfer my license," an interactive farming simulation where you accommodate Microsoft's DRM by redownloading everything you ever bought from them, and tending the download queue with constant nursing, since it will only allow 30 items at a time.

And it just dawns on me that I still need to get my game saves off the old HDD, or all my mid-game progresses will die, er, mid-progress.

At the end, I had COM/SAB/SYN until my characters had every status upgrade they can get and the enemies have every downgrade they can get.  Then I hit with RAV/RAV/COM or MED/MED/SYN as necessary.

The YT video is interesting but it looks like every character needed to have 5 ATBs.  I have that for Lightning but I can't be bothered to continually grind to get it for the others.

what games have you played recently texp? maybe playing crappy AAA games is a part of the burnout. It was for me.

Tales of Vesperia and Final Fantasy XIII

I guess burnout is the wrong word.  I've just been working long hours.  With that, hitting the gym, and current drama with a girlfriend, I just don't feel like gaming.  I really only play on the weekends and even then, I have to force myself.  I wanted to get a Wii and SMG2 but I know I'll never play it so I don't bother.  The SNES roms I do play are often for short periods of time.

Order of Ecclesia is such a bad Castlevania game. I never made it past the Crab boss because it was distinguished mentally-challenged, but I sat down while playing DR and I powered through him. I'm not sure how far I am exactly (going to the Mansion after visiting the village a 2nd time), but everything about this game is so shit.
