eh i'm not a big fan of job systems,they try to make the player experiment and make a varied party but in the end there is a skill or job that trump all the others making it more a "guess which job is the good one?" tough i guess i could see why people like it

Just got Hearts of Iron 3 for 10$ and my Secret Santa Steam gifts from Mojo (The Witcher Directors Cut & Amnesia: Dark Descent). Anybody play Hearts of Iron? I've been wanting to get into the series for a while and I heard HoI3 is pretty buggy but the latest patches along with some mods make it a near god tier strategy game. Any mod recommendations?

Oh crap. What do I do, bore. Once again I'm facing a mind-shattering problem of epic proportions and need hugs. My NieR disk won't read. It's scratch- and fingerprint-free. I tried the recovery menu thingamajig on a whim and it did something, I guess. Still no dice. Dammit.  System still reads other Blurays (movies/games) just fine. By the time zavvi will have sent me a replacement it'll probably be 2011.

Oh well, at least I can still whip out my trusty phat DS and play Rune Factory 3. Looks like the gaming gods have spoken.

Then again, the prequels were utter crap, and they're "canon" -- but I prefer to think of them as fanfic.

Except for Transformers. I don't even know where he gets this shit. I really liked Transformers actually, at least the MP side, but what does over-rated even mean in this context. That game got like a 75 on metacritic. It sold average. And nobody really talks about it or barely plays it online.

His lists are always humorously stupid because they tend to be a mix of whatever is popular or whatever his friends recommended to him that he didn't like. So that must make it "over-rated".

Bioshock 2 was overrated?  I haven't heard anything about it since it released, I liked it okay.

Of the only three games I've played on that list, Mass Effect/Red Dead/Halo, all of his points are stupid.  He says Reach is just like ODST, that RDR had tone deaf writing, and he even complains about the streamlining of the RPG gameplay in Mass Effect as though it was a bad thing.

They didn't release PS3 Vesperia in the West.

That's true but Namco doesn't do a lot of stuff. Personally I thought that was a mistake. At the time, ps3 could have used another rpg. It was around the same time Demon's Souls came out and that took off. Vesperia ps3 could have made them 100-200k easy with solid marketing.

What part?  The art style is very consistent with Symphonia, Abyss, Vesperia and the battle system looks like their stuff.  The only difference is the main girl design is by Inomata who never works with them usually.

The staff is the Vesperia team minus the dialogue/story/cutscene director.  The story is all being done by Team Destiny that did Graces.  But the art, gameplay, battle, direction is all Team Symphonia.

Namco should just put subtitles and release it digitally.
Those games will never be million sellers in the West but there is some small hardcore niche group that likes them(ideal for microtransactions).
But of course they are too stupid to do that.

J: Thank you. The first question regarding Tales is… Why didn’t you guys localize Tales of Vesperia for Playstation 3, and also try to localize Tales of Graces for Wii or even PS3 version?

S: It has to do with the money wise. Tales games are extremely tradition for Namco… but it’s just that voice overs, and translations, DLCs are just too much money. One or two lines by a voice actor can be really expensive. It could go from hundreds to thousands!

J: Well, have you thought about not dubbing the game, but just translate the game with subtitles?

S: There are many reasons of why we refuse to leave Japanese dubs in our game. One of them is really about encourage players to listen in English… but also there are players that don’t really read subtitles or even read game dialogues. So it’s quite a troublesome for us to localize the games in undubbed quality.

J: If this is the case, why not have NiS or XSEED or Atlus to work on the localizations?

S: That’s really a good question. I am sure people did suggest us to localize under them… but they need to know that localizing under their names also mean us spending money too regardless of them taking our titles. We’d be getting half the money while they get the other half…. And by any contract, the more sales the game makes, then it’d be the other company that will get more money than us. That’s how the system runs. If we let XSEED localize Vesperia for instance, and they sell like 250,000 copies… we’d be getting 30-40% of that. Sure, we’d still get money… but what’s the point if we are the ones to pay for the translation, voice overs, and BluRay supplies and so on…? XSEED are just localizing and they only pay for advertising and promoting. That’s all there is to it.

J: My next question is about Troy Baker. Did he actually get called in for Tales of Vesperia for Playstation 3? If you haven’t noticed, there was this female Tales fan who asked about Vesperia voice over during 2010 Sakuracon on April. Please tell the truth here, and I told you I’ll keep my promise with you anyways.

S: No, he did not. We had the projects up on the list, but it was never fully passed. I am pretty sure he didn’t really listen carefully to that fan when she asked him about the voiceovers. I can tell you this… if we are going to localize something, we will be announcing the game before we -call out- the voice actors.

J: So then are you ever planning of localizing Tales of Graces F or even Xillia or whatever the fans are calling?

S: I honestly would answer that question to them, but as of right now… no. They aren’t even in our priority lists.
