N1 just announced Classic Dungeon 2 for March 24th release.  Will have several orders of magnitude more loot and jobs.

Pretty cool.  I really liked CD but it just didn't have enough content for a full game.  Give it tons more loot and other improvements and you'll have a kickass a-rpg rogue.

Oh and BlazBlue CS II for PSP.

yea i didn't like cladun that much,it really didn't feel much like a N1 game to begin with, upon reading such a news my reaction was more along the lines of "heh....."

besides do we even know anything about it other than it's happening? does it looks different? is there a less annoying system to the magic circle? it's even harder for me to care when i don't even know stuff like that

so they're re-releasing Hydrophobia with a ton of tweaks, and at a price of 800pts rather than the original's 1200pt asking price.

I wonder how owners of the original release will feel about this.

I stopped playing it the second time they expected me to drive around and burn bushes.

I played it on PC and apparently they changed the PS3 version a lot based on criticism.  There were plans to patch the 360 version, but at that point no one cared anymore.

It's roughly the same as Episodes from Liberty City, in that it is technically DLC but doesn't actually require the original game to play.

I posted this on gaf because I think out loud a lot and don't usually write it.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=25020503#post25020503

Quote
I bought Broken Sword DC on steam today for $2.50 and I started thinking about how nice it'd be if I could play it at home on my PC and then continue playing it when I'm traveling on my iphone and then resume back on my PC again.

Then I started thinking about how games really should give you copies on multiple platforms when you buy them. When you buy a movie these days you get the blu-ray to watch at home, the digital version to watch on your pc or phone or on the go, and the dvd version to watch elsewhere. Games should head in that direction. I can't count the number of console games I've rebought on the PC or portable systems just for accessibility at some point later. But I understand publishers wouldn't want to do this because they'd worry about lost sales from people selling off the versions they don't use or giving them to friends. But then you could make the same case about blu-ray combo packs with dvds and digital copies too.

In an ideal world you would buy a game and get access to every incarnation of it whether it's phone/console/pc/mac/handheld and their saves would all use cloud saving and so you could play anywhere and resume elsewhere.

But the world is not ideal and that's not going to happen.

So I got to thinking, what else can games do to go in the consumer appealing direction that movie combo packs have gone?

Well, these days almost everyone has a phone. Whether it's Android or Windows Phone or iphone. Most gamers have a phone and phone gaming/apps are taking off in a big way. So why not have phone features in your games? If your game is graphically simple enough like Broken Sword of many indie games, have cloud saving and let the players seamlessly go from one save on their PC/Console to resuming the game on their handheld and then vice-versa.

If your game is more technologically advanced and won't run identically on a phone, then figure out a creative way that the user can do something useful and fun with their save while they're out. For example let's use Gran Turismo 5. Imagine if you could download a phone app that let you log into your GT user profile with your current save and play B-spec races on your phone while you're out and about (for those who don't know, B-spec racing is where an AI races for you and you just give them some directions). It could just show dots on the map of the track that represent the cars and you give your commands. This way you could finish races and circuits away from home and then when you get back to your PS3 you'll have all the experience points, credits, and prize cars waiting for you.

Another example is Halo. Imagine a phone app that lets you build levels in the Forge while you're out or spectate on games your friends are currently playing. Imagine jumping on and seeing a 2d map with icons and you watch your buddies playing a match and can chat with them during it.

Even if your game doesn't have anything currently that you could integrate into a phone app. If this took off then you could start making extra low-fi gameplay systems that would be your phone app and what a user could do with your game while away from the title.

I think if advertised right, this could really help sell games as people would think it's cool that they can play the game at home and when they're out. It seems like a way gaming could take a positive step forward.

just my thoughts.

"But before they could put the hammer on the nail with the style, the combat had to be re-tooled to make it eye-catching. In the past, numbers and statuses would fill the screen and possibly befuddle the player on what truly was taking place when participating in the battle. Now, Dragon Age II takes that all away"

was the psp one any good?

but rogue galaxy.... it kinda starts off good with a nice premise and a cool combat system but then all your characters get insta-win attack and the plot starts to pull cliche after cliche out of his ass and the whole game crash in such an horrendous manner that mere words cannot describe it

just for you... borean who has never played rogue galaxy and doesn't understand how stupid rogue galaxy gets

Perfect example how Sony has screwed up with their Move advertising or awareness.

My older brother calls me and tells me he has just picked up a Wii for his wife and asking how to hook it up. Both of them are the very definition of the most casual of casual gamers by playing things like Facebook games and etc.

He already owns a PS 3 though. So I tell him there is a device for that called the move which is more precise and will allow him to use the hd graphics on his PS3. He neither knows about the move nor cares when I inform him of this.

haha yeah.  on the other hand, microsoft has done a pretty good job.  my parents, whose knowledge of video games amounts to: my son plays them -and- duck hunt on the nintendo, were about to buy me kinect for christmas because of one of those morning news/talk show programs.  I managed to figure it out before they made the mistake of buying something I don't want at the moment, and couldn't even play if I did, and stop them.  But I thought it was funny that they were aware of it and only assumed I haven't bought it because it was expensive.

oh, and the other Kinect related story was overhearing two kids begging their mom to buy Kinect for them.  Sony :bow2 since no one knows about the move, no one will be disappointed when they don't get one...or do.

Just beat BTTF Ep1

I think 2-4 hours is being extremely kind to this, I finished it in about 1 hour and i'm terrible at Adventure games.

It was pretty good overall, but the animation was terrible at times. I'm talking PS2 level of animation, and lots of audio problems. It's weird to go from Poker Night which had amazing lip syncing technology to this where everyone seems kind of...robotic.

It's great otherwise. Puzzles are nice, story was awesome, all the references are amazing
