Jeff doesn't seem to like it. Quake and Unreal are just games that require a mouse and keyboard to play. They're super fast and they require high precision aiming - anything but a mouse is simply terrible. They should stop wasting money porting these games to console.

Super Meat Boy just got canned for wiiware. This actually makes me kinda butthurt, considering it was originally announced for that platform solely in the first place.

On the bright side, Retro City Rampage was announced for Xbox Live.  It is coming out a while before the Wii version despite it being shown solely for that console.  At least the Wii version hasn't been canned...yet.

Wiiware was pretty OK until I hit the storage limit. After that it just became tedious. I continued buying and playing games, trying desperately not to let the shitty UI and design decisions get in the way of my enjoyment, but in the end I just said fuck it. Haven't opened the Wii shop for ages. Nintendo really fucked that stuff up. Oh well, it's their own damn fault. No moneys from me, idiots.

OK, so the Wii shop firmware shenaningans played a part too. Once you go usbloader you can't really go back.

Yeah, there's a thread on gaf, but a few of us are still waiting for our physical copies.  Duckroll already beat the game.  It's a 6-8 hour hardcore Japanese action game in the vein of Vanquish/Shinobi/DMC.  Apparently the game is intense and challenging and all about learning enemy patterns to dodge and counter and the game is geared toward replays on new game+ keeping all your stuff like Bayonetta.  All the costumes and stuff they showed leading up to the game with real-time damage aren't even unlocked until you beat the game.

I'll have my copy either tomorrow or monday.  From the sound of it, it seems like how tight the gameplay mechanics are will make or break the game.

Apparently everyone involved wanted to make a PS3/X360 action game, but SE wouldn't let them so they made the exact same game they were going to make on consoles on the PSP without cutting back on anything for portability.  Unfortunately this means the game kills your hands according to everyone playing it.  The devs even recommend playing with TV-out + PS3 controller, lol.

Today, I found out that whilst I was asleep last night, my boyfriend was playing on his XBox. I also found out that whenever he unlocked a new level, achievement or just generally beat someone's ass, he would celebrate by pulling out one of his pubes and putting it in my mouth. FML

Team Meat has announced that they have cancelled the WiiWare release of Super Meat Boy, stating that they were unable to get a quality version of the title, a hit on both the PC and Xbox 360, under the 40MB size limit Nintendo has on its download service. The WiiWare release was already delayed from its original November release. Team Meat had mentioned it got the game to 50MB at that time, but the content removed by then had left the creators Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes unsatisfied with the quality of the title.

"It's mostly music," said McMillen, "We got it close to 40MB, but we only have five music tracks, one retro and one boss, and no cutscene music. ... The cut scenes might as well not be there, and if you beat the game, I'm sure you know the final cutscene needs a musical score, to have any impact at all." McMillen mentioned that Team Meat had assumed that Nintendo might allow them to submit the title 5 to 10MB above the limit, which obviously didn't happen. He was quick to note that Team Meat loved working with Nintendo.

The developer has been making pushes to getting the game published on disc, but so far responses from publishers has been negative. McMillen said that the three biggest publishers contacted so far said there was no money to be made from third-party games on the Wii. He assured, however, that Team Meat will develop a game on a Nintendo platform.

I doubt the UMD works (yet), but hackers already have patched ISOs ready for play.

I'm going to try it out now, but I doubt I will import the game.  Would rather wait for the American version and just grab it off PSN...taking the devs' advice and playing it with a PS3 controller.

With the way Kinect has been selling, I think it was dumb or naive to assume that Microsoft wouldn't go full distinguished mentally-challenged fellow into motion gaming.  Fortunately for Sfags who hate motion gaming, Move is a dismal failure and that means that flagship titles won't be ruined by excessive waggling or gesticulating.

These days, my 360 is used more as a DVD player than a gaming console.  There are still shitloads of good games on the 360 I have yet to play.  Even if the next 2-3 years will be waggleshit, with 30-40 Xbox games I want to play, it isn't too bad.  Not to mention there are plenty of future releases that will not use Kinect.

It's disappointing but not a huge deal.

According to a Microsoft survey, they're doing a new one for Forza 4 (I believe Fantec was listed as possible manufacturer). Ask most racing fans and they'll tell you the old wheel is turds.

Id recommended getting the Mad Catz MC2 wheel. It's $100.

Or if you have the money the Porsche 911 GT2. The plus side is if you get the GT2 it works with the PS3 as well.

I tried kinect at a best buy today.  It was super awful.  The calibration was a pain, especially when you have to do it for each new person if you want it to read your movements at all.  Even when it does that its slow, unresponsive and ultimately limited.  I was playing kinect bowling and table tennis, and its nothing like the Wii Sports Resort versions i.e. tactile and/or fun.  Navigating menus is a huge pain as well, there's a huge disconnect between your hand and the cursor, and often it struggles to catch up.  Maybe in a controlled home environment these problems could be lessened, but it was a terrible impression.  Before my concern was mainly with the space requirements, but I can't see this thing sustaining itself past this holiday season unless the mass market standards are far lower than I anticipated.

Spent a few happy hrs modding the fuck out of Dragon Age Ultimate. It now takes up about 30GB of precious SSD space but it's worth it. It doesn't look great even now, but it looks a lot better than it used to, and WAY the fuck better than it did on 360. And the gameplay tweaks are great.
