I think what it comes down to for me is that most people who play online will destroy me, same for any other fighter. Matchmaking is generally brutal- putting people like me *filthy casuals* against people who clearly play the game A LOT. In the end, why bother I guess.

Don't do ranked matches.  Make a room that specifies its for beginners (not all games do this, but MK, BlazBlue, and SSF4 AE will let you), and PRACTICE.  You don't have to spend hours and hours either.

VP2 = better than Radiata

Looks like its the filter- but not using a filter = jittery. GUESS PS2 EMU AINT PERFECT YET LOLLLL

there are multiple filters.  one of the F buttons toggles it.  I think either F4, F5 or F6.  I get it confused with the aspect ratio command.

and for some games there are speedhacks (enable in the options) to help.  some games run like junk regardless.

the only full game I played on PCSX2 was Gungrave.  it worked perfectly and looks great in HD.

I have a few questions about PS2 emulation:

- Will a quad core be okay?
- will it detect games in the disk drive?
- Can I use an Xbox 360 controller with ease?

-Yes.
-Yes.
-Yes.

The main thing [unless you have an insane rig] is to figure out how to adjust the speedhacks. Some games work just fine if you crank them up and some will start to glitch out, just mess around with that for a while and see what you get from it.

i ripped MGS3 into an iso and got it running. runs pretty well for the most part. the only issue is that the buttons arent analog. i can't find in the options to set it... is it even possible?

man i forgot how good the AI is. when you go into a tree trunk they will crawl inside after you. really makes Deus Ex look pretty bad.

Even in MGS1 they'd throw grenades into the vents lol. DX is amazing though it certainly has its issues

GTA IV was a great technical accomplishment, but a step back in gameplay. Meanwhile Saints Row 2 leapfrogged it. LA Noire, which R* apparently laid some heavy hands on, not just Team Bondi and Shouty Mister McNamara -- is also technically very impressive, and only manages to replicate King's Quest level gameplay with 7 years of production effort.

So, yeah, basically this gen is Red Dead Redemption and Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Beaterator got great reviews, but no-one bought it. Same with GTA: Chinatown Wars.

fwiw, BULLY was last-gen; a souped-up port with enhanced Wii gameplay doesn't count!

Random moment of clarity: I've become a lazy and reclusive gamer.
  • I want to play WH40k Space Marine's Online mode.
  • I'd need to learn to play it with KB&M or be slaughtered.
  • ... and I just can't be arsed to do that. 360 pad be comfy and Couch compatible.
Playing on easy, too. Dying? Not on my watch. Huh. Funny how that goes.

Game rocks, by the way. Ain't no game of the forever, but it delivers just the right amount of fun I just about needed right now. On and off again I've been subvocalizing a squeal or giggle in an entirely unbecoming manner (not unlike that Brit). Nothing beats charging at a horde of Orks and just turning them into red goo. It's a crazy over-the-top powertrip fantasy.

I do kind of miss the more humorous aspect of the Orks though. No "Look! 'umies! >:D". Instead it's an outright articulate "Space Marines! >:(" followed by hordes and hordes of angry Ork clones. No misfiring, no accidental explosions, little excitement at the prospect of getting torn to shreds. Haven't heard anyone go "Dakka Dakka" or "Waaagh!", either. The big guys aren't lovingly motivating their subordinates, and the accuracy of those few that wield guns is rather astounding.
The Blue Guys aren't quite the hardass Emperor-Botherers they ought to be, either. In fact, IIRC their religious aspect isn't even introduced.

Oh well, I'll deal. There's delicious fluff, and there's "Will it blend? Orks & Space Marines edition".

Then again, I'm still at the very beginning of the game, at chapter four or somesuch. Might come into play later. I already know that there'll be a third party, and I very much look forward to go toe-to-toe with them.

TL;DR: Relic :bow2

Quote
Syndicate is the re-imagination of a cult classic franchise from 1993 - a unique action shooter set in a not too distant future, where Business is War.

2069 – No longer governed by politicians, the developed world is divided up into regions controlled by megacorporations known as Syndicates. These Syndicates have revolutionized how the consumer interacts with the digital world. No longer does the consumer require a device to access the worldˇ¦s data and control their technology, they can do this at the blink of an eye via neural chip implant. Civilians flocked to be ˇ§chipˇ¦dˇ¨ and enjoy all that their selected Syndicate has to offer; housing, medical, banking, insurance, education, entertainment and jobs. One complete package. One complete lifestyle. In return, the Syndicates gained unprecedented insights, and control, over the individual and their behaviour. With little governmental oversight, business has become war. The Syndicates will stop at nothing for ultimate market dominance. At the front line of this war are the Agents, the Syndicateˇ¦s bio-engineered and chip-augmented enforcers. They can breach anything in the wired world including their enemies, their weapons and the environment that surrounds them, making them the most efficient and deadly technological weapons in the world.

Take on the role of Miles Kilo, Eurocorpˇ¦s latest prototype agent, and embark on a brutal action adventure of corruption and revenge.

• Chip Enhanced Gameplay: Slow down time, see through walls, and breach your enemy and everything digital in the world with Dart vision – A neural DART6 chip implant that allows you to interface directly with the Dataverse.

• 4-Player Online Co-op: Assemble your Syndicate for global domination. A 4-player, online co-op experience like no other, with chip enhanced gameplay and 9 missions re-imagined from the original Syndicate.

• Visceral FPS Experience: Utilize an upgradable arsenal of futuristic weapons, armor and gear to annihilate your enemies and harvest their chip technology for personal advancement and sinister corporate greed.

• Sci-Fi Fiction: Immerse yourself in the world of Syndicate 2069, with a world-class sci-fi story experience, written by bestselling author Richard Morgan.
