A lot of these people have legitimate problems handling money and just don't know it better. They need support and your friend ought to know this. But I guess he's one of those guys who think that helping out in a soup kitchen one afternoon or something gives him the moral right to shit on these people.

Good for you to stand up to him. If he's an actual friend, he'll know what a dick he was and apologize.

Edit: also, if you actually know any poor people you start to realize how stacked against poor people American really is. My in-laws are pretty poor, and you talk to them a bit and realize how much they get fucked. Some of their problems are their own fault, but the problem is their margin of error is tiny.

A big eye opener to me was realizing that they spend as much on their Chevy per month as I do on my Cadillac, all because my credit is so much better.

Had a strange dream dream last night that I keep turning over. Basically remember seeing a reflection of myself or a pov outside my body looking at my face. "Pay it forward" in drive thru lines is mostly unnessecary. Especially at Starbucks. The person behind you wouldn't be in line if they couldn't afford to buy their 8 dollar drink. While its a nice gesture, its really just well-off people taking care of other well-off people (with very few exceptions.)

Consider, instead, if youve got 8 bucks to give away, thats about the average HOURLY salary of the barista at the window busting ass to take care of you. They have a tip jar and could probably use it more than Bougie Becky behind you in her Lexus.

So this year I finally got over buying cheap/sale games that just go in the steam/console backlog. Was figuring I'd save a few hundred bucks a year that way.
But then I started buying Vinyls this year and I'm spending like $50-100/month on records. So yeah, that didn't work. Just replaced one toy with another :|

That being said now that I've worn my record player in and gotten the hang of static cleaning records and got my audio settings right, records are pretty darn awesome. Lots of fun re-visiting older albums that I used to listen to on cds/tapes in portable cd players and hearing them sound like I'm at a goddamn concert now. Been rocking out a lot and its a quality of life improvement. When I get up in the morning I'll put a record on as I'm getting ready and when I get home from work I'll often just relax for a bit to an album. Only disappointing side besides that some vinyl are expensive is that Japan hasn't seemed to get into the hipster vinyl wave. There's very few Japanese records/remasters/re-releases (besides stuff from back in the day) and most of the bands I like don't have any vinyl or sell them exclusively at shows as some expensive limited item. Kinda sucks, but I figure in another 5-10 years they'll get on board.
