True.Hopefully this time, he'll actually deliver a competent gameplay experience.
Right now, Kinect only works when you stand. This includes menu navigation. All the cool options to grab a slider and advance through frames of a movie you are watching only work when you are on your feet. Kinect, we've been told, has problems handling your skeletal frame while sitting. The voice commands still work, but every game we've seen and even simple menu navigation have to be done with you out of your seat. That's not exactly how I want to watch my movies. If the focus for Kinect is creating games like Dance Central that naturally would require you to be off your couch, that's great. But I have to say, no one thinks "I am driving a car!" while standing up in their living room.
Yeah, that thing is pretty much useless to me now. Way to go, Microsoft.

why wouldn't you want this to be true? the faster kinect fails the quicker msft can get back to focusing on what's important - GAMES!!
Yes you can sit or stand with Kinect, depends on the game or experience.
the difference here is people who hate waggle as a control method hate every form of it, while triple a just wants to suck that glowing pink ball until it melts on his tongue
It definitely looks like fun for individuals under the age of 5.
Dude I am literally standing next to miyamoto now at the kinect booth and he is watching people play Joyride with this amazing WTF look. I want to say YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS

One developer with whom I spoke and who is familiar with how Microsoft is briefing studios making games for Kinect said the company has specifically advised developers to not make games that would involve the player's sitting down.
i read the whole article, sounds like they're still actively working on calibrating for sitting, i'd imagine it's a pretty big deal for them to iron out before launch
So its getting pretty positive feedback, but even if this thing worked incredibly well, I don't think it would find the success they hope for. They should have learned from Zune.
In response to that article, Microsoft representatives reached out to IGN to clarify, saying we definitely will be able to sit while using Kinect. Representatives said they want to provide a comfortable, enjoyable experience for users and understand that people don't want to watch a movie standing up.

I don't get how MS could overlook this issue. Do they think all people on earth have infinite square foot livingrooms?
