I guess the Kings pick moved to three, ahead of Philly, so they got swapped back to five. So Vlade's trade cost them someone like Josh Jackson.

Saw this on r/nba:

Quote
Being the 14th season isn't even the correct way to look at this. Neither is the fact that he's 32 years old.

The amazing thing about LeBron is the mileage he has accumulated.
His total minutes played is currently at 50,038. For comparison, Shaq retired with 50,016 played. Paul Pierce is retiring now with 52,111 played.

Michael Jordan retired with "only" 48,485 minutes played, so LeBron already has a full season more than Jordan on the odometer. Bill Russel retired with 48,223 minutes played.
Dwyane Wade is currently only at 38,904 minutes played and Melo is at 37,913.

LeBron has played the equivalent of 3.7 regular seasons more than Dwyane Wade who is in his same draft class.

Part of it is of course luck with no major injuries but part of it is how well he has taken care of his body.

Most of the people mentioned as comparison did not take care of themselves in the same way. Especially Shaq who was always out of shape for long stretches after his early days.

Lebron has changed his game in smart ways. And the emphasis on 3 point shooting and spreading the floor and small ball in the league has helped him with his driving and the fact that he has essentially the body of a power forward and plays bully ball with the smaller people now on the floor.

Have your center guard LeBron James, brehs....

Cavs in 5...but I think they can sweep if they play as focused as they were last night.

that...actually seems about right?

other than the actual point distribution (who the fuck voted Westbrook second team and Kawhi third team?), just going off the teams themselves it looks pretty good, although Jordan over Gasol is probably wrong, and Paul outside the top 6 guards in the league also doesn't sound right

crazy close between AD and Gobert though

DeRozan over Paul is obvious one, but the voters always do representation votes, so Toronto "needed" somebody.

similarly Kobe retired at 37, but had played 57,278 minutes in the NBA (roughly the same as Kareem's regular season minutes), plus played in all those Olympics

You think you'll make the playoffs, how cute.

Pacers are basically a guaranteed 6-8th seed for eternity. We usually played better without him in the past few years. I'm still stunned PG was a 2K cover athlete. He's never been a good leader, he's a selfish player, and that shit during the playoffs this year where he was like I HAVE TO BE THE ONE TO GET THE LAST SHOT and shit on all of his teammates for no reason, then gets his chance to get the last shot and barely hits the fucking backboard while his Gatorade ad of hitting a buzzer beater shot airs nonstop during the playoffs is  :neogaf as hell. For some reason he's treated like he's this elite player, despite doing nothing to show that in the past 7 years. He's not going to take the Lakers past the first or second round, either. He's not that kind of player.

I mean, I don't wish ill upon him or anything, but he's just another in a long line of the past 12 years of post Reggie guys who has been treated as the savior in local media despite not delivering year after year. He's just the latest version of Danny Granger/Al Harrington/Jonathan Bender, except he costs much, much more with essentially the same results. He mentally checked out of being a Pacers player about 2 years ago, and I think everyone else around here did as well.

Hey, Bender was pretty good during those 20 or so games in 2003-ish where he realized he was seven foot tall yet had guard qualities before getting injured again. It almost made you forget you maybe traded a title for him!

Webber and Reggie aren't very good at color commentary.

Is LeBron deliberately trying to foul out or something?

Or is this one of those things Jordan and Bird used to do where he's gonna pick up five fouls and then play the rest of the game because it's boring without an extra challenge.

Two sub par playoff games in a row for Lebron. You have to go back to that mavs series for the last time that happened. Kyrie is killing it though.

On reflection sub-par isn't actually a good descriptor. He is playing well especially in the second half. That first half was just kind of garbage.

It sure looks like he was just trying to coast and avoid wear and tear in game 3 and he started off this game the same way. He was avoiding the paint like the plague.

He's at 32 pts now tho.

Good effort from the Celtics. They had a shot at it which is about the best you could hope for in this situation. They might steal another at home although unless something bizarre happens the series is over.

This series does point up the issues they will have with the warriors though. If playing D's against the 3 onslaught of the motion offense celtics is a problem, the warriors will be a nightmare.

As expected. On the finals.

I thought the Cavs had no chance last year and they won. So who am I to say anything...

But if I'm going to say something, I think they even have less of a chance this year. It would be an even bigger upset imo because the Warriors play pretty much perfect modern basketball with one of the most talented lineups in the history of the game.

Good Luck Cavs. Hopefully its an entertaining finals because both teams pretty much destroyed everybody else on the way here.

Hm, yeah.  I think the Cavs are a better team this year, but the Warriors are just...you can't defend them.  Who fucking guards Durant in the Finals?  Kyrie will be on Klay, Lebron on Green, JR on Steph...who guards Durant?  Love?  lol.

Yeah that's the problem and even if it isn't Durant who is going to kill them (and he will) the problem is even when you adjust you are leaving some other killer to do it.

As good as that team was last year there was a gameplan. Make people like Harrison Barnes have to make big contributions. Easier said than done of course but you could at least envision it.

There is no Harrison Barnes this year. It's all a murder's row.

Jack Remington time to shine

I thought the Cavs had a chance last year, since tbh I felt like they could have beaten the Warriors in their first finals matchup if not for Kyrie and Love being out. But this time nah. Even thought I'm sure KG and Curry will shit the bed a couple times.

James Jones is LeBron's favorite and most trusted player, that's why he shows up on the bench wherever LeBron travels and will randomly be in the game at crunch time despite not having played prior in the series or season.

One running subplot of the "old timey" dudes on the Cavs I enjoy is how Richard Jefferson basically copied off Popp's cheat sheet and then started ripping off Battier to keep things going career-wise. :rollsafe

ESPN is pushing this story so hard:
Quote
All-Star point guard Chris Paul intends to give the San Antonio Spurs serious consideration in free agency this summer in the event he decides to leave the LA Clippers, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN that Paul, for all of his undeniable fondness for Los Angeles, is intrigued by the idea of teaming up with the likes of Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and MVP top-three finalist Kawhi Leonard in his quest to achieve the deep playoff success that has eluded Paul to this point in his career.
Quote
The Spurs, sources say, are increasingly considered a lock to at least secure a face-to-face meeting with Paul when free agency begins July 1, despite the fact San Antonio would almost certainly have to sacrifice considerable roster depth to make him a representative contract offer.

As daunting as some of the moves are that San Antonio would have to consider to create the requisite salary-cap space to aggressively pursue Paul, one source said of the Spurs' interest in the veteran floor leader: "They love him."
