People kept trying to say that NFL ratings declined with the knee taking, but they didn't decline any more than any other television show. Maybe this is just the same natural decline do to people not paying for cable anymore?

cord cutting alone doesn't explain the sudden extreme drop in ratings when just last year it reached a 4 year high

five teams in both conferences are on track to win 50+ games, then you've got one team each in the 45-48 range, then you have like four teams hovering around 37-40 wins for now but could easily get a late season 15-5 run or something and move up like Orlando and Portland and etc. did last season, so there's lots of jockeying still to happen among like ten teams in each conference

a fun thing is that all the good teams are in the top half of the league in defense this year, except Houston and they're 16th, so there's much about getting these offenses back in gear as the teams gel

also fun is the Raptors still contending in terms of wins projected (57-25) which would be second in the league sneaking past the Lakers

I was listening to Kornheiser today and he was talking about how local ratings for Wizards b-ball is down 56% (!!) over last year. Granted they are a bad team, but they were bad last year, too. That’s a crazy drop in just one year.

Quote
With 1.1 seconds remaining and the Thunder down two points, Wolves center Karl-Anthony Towns stood at the free throw line with an opportunity to ice the game. He missed his first attempt, and the Wolves sent forward Jordan Bell to check into the game.

As Bell walked into the game, his jersey was untucked, and Thunder guard Chris Paul loudly alerted referee Scott Foster of it.

"Jersey out! His jersey's out! That's a delay of game!" Paul yelled. Foster took notice, and called the Wolves for a delay of game. "Damn right," Paul said after Foster made the call.

It was Minnesota's second delay of the game -- Towns had been called for one in the first half for not having wraps on his knees unwrapped before he was signaled to check into the game -- which resulted in an automatic technical foul.

Kinda not that hard to have a good team when you're gifted an in his prime top 3 player. Are we also buying Dwight Howard and Javale McGee play as sustainable?

Sure, but he also hired the coach and his defensive system is legit.

I think you could stick just about any coach and any combination of players around Lebron and AD and they would be very good. Which is kind of a dis but the role players have been working hard. Even KCP. So I don't want to overly crap on them.

I don't really blame what Magic said and did. I blame how he went about it. It was a very public spectacle that didn't help the team. There is a better way of taking a shit on somebody if that is what you want to do. Time and Place.

Talk about turning lemons in lemonade. OKC is better than teams like the Suns, Timberwolves, etc. Unless they just trade players to bottom out they are a 7th or 8th seed.

I mean to be fair to Cleveland there isn't much they can do. And signing Love to that massive contract was always a strange move on their part after Lebron left.

Quote
Detroit Pistons star Blake Griffin underwent an arthroscopic procedure Tuesday on his injured knee and will be out indefinitely, the team announced.

The Pistons said in a statement that following the surgery, Griffin will undergo an "extended rehabilitation period."

Griffin, a six-time All Star, has played only 18 games this season because of issues with the knee. He had arthroscopic surgery on the same knee in April.

Quote
Basketball and other sports stars are typically given multi-year contracts that work out to a certain dollar amount per year. Dinwiddie hopes that by tokenizing his three-year, $34.36 million contract, he will be able to collect its value up front, instead of having to wait.

Dinwiddie plans to sell 90 tokens for $150,000 each to accredited investors. After a year, they will be tradeable. The digital security will pay out 4.95% interest on a monthly basis, and fully pay out when it matures in 2023, according to Forbes. Dinwiddie says the structure he and his legal team have created can be used by other players too.

I know it's only the Cavs, but Pels looked pretty good against the Celtics other night as well. Will see how they look against Houston, but it seems like they are coming together a bit better than expected. Hope to sneak into playoffs, which honestly most had written off.

well this is the most fun i've had watching the wiz since the 2016-17 run largely because outside of IT, we don't have a single rental on the roster so it's hard to agree that it's much of the same shit when the entire ethos of the team has been changed from top to bottom :idont

The Timberwolves are orchestrating multiteam trade discussions with Houston and Atlanta in hopes of ultimately turning discussions into a four-way deal that brings Golden State guard D'Angelo Russell to Minnesota, league sources told ESPN.

The Timberwolves, Rockets and Hawks have the assets to fulfill some of each team's goals: forward Robert Covington to Houston, center Clint Capela to the Hawks and potentially two first-round picks and an expiring contract to Minnesota, league sources said.
