Not so much artificial. They use stem cells from skin on other parts of the persons own body. They mix those cells into a "watery solution" that they put into a computerized spray-gun and then apply it to the areas where skin is damaged or missing. I assume that they completely remove the damaged skin for this procedure. But the outcome is fantastic. The patient they showed that had the procedure had no marks or signs on his skin that he had been a burn victim.

The only problem I see coming from this would be whether it gets labeled as some sort of cosmetic surgery or not. If it does, then a lot of insurance companies will shut it out.
