January went smoothly in the US, it seems. Nice one. Something for everyone.

Not quite as excited for MonHan going mainstream since I'm more of a "I liked it before it was cool" whiner that will surely dislike where the game will go from now on with all the dirty casuals streaming in - but it's undeniably a good thing since it means the Capcom gamble paid off and the franchise has a future. I just hope my pessimistic fanboy ass will be thoroughly proven wrong in the future.

We're talking about Capcom here. They make significant changes to their IPs once per decade. You'll be fine.

Horizon could get boring if you tried to do all the side quests and collection [like most Ubisoft-style open world games], but the main questline was good and hunting huge dino-bots was fun.

It was just one of those games that never clicked with me.

I can see hypothetically what other people saw in it, but it just never came together for me.

I think it just seemed like too much of a rehash of other games to me. It’s basically techno Tomb Raider with an uglier protagonist.

Refined Ubisoft sandbox Tomb Raider Reboot. The rehash thing basically counts for every game though.

Getting your traps and stuff to work in synch was pretty cool to me.

It's got loot, you can play with friends online and stream your gameplay. Seems like a recipe for success.

It's ridiculous that Indies are selling gangbusters while big 3rd parties are more or less fleeing in abject terror. It's nothing new, I guess.

I'm really curious about that Totally Not Starfox^TM game from Ubisoft (with Totally Not Amiibos^TM). Sales comparisons between the various platforms will probably be very interesting.
Still, the waters are a bit muddled unless they come out with a Master Chief/Destiny(?) collab as well. I mean, give Ninthings Nintendo franchise tie-ins and they'll be there, day and date. Particularly since the game looked more Starfoxy than any recent Stafox game by Nintendo.
