Yeah they seem to have gotten away with weapon specifics. They even got rid of Proficiency.

I'm fine with this, but it's weird to stick a pistol upgrade In the zerker tech tree. Especially for pistols and not shotguns

Viz and I hit another bugged quest yesterday, had to quit out of the game to get it to reset. Treesong and I played for a while, didn't hit any bugs.

I am gonna make a new character and take it through the opening bits, then reserve it, if anyone else wants to start fresh and play through the whole game co-op (not at once, just keep a character on reserve for that purpose) let me know.

I wouldn't mind doing that, I was already thinking of starting a new playthrough with Zero.

When do the powers kick in? Level 5?  That's where I'll stop and put a hold on my character. Guess I will go for the Commando this time.

I've played all 4 classes for varying amounts of time now.

I think the Siren is the most fun. Followed up by the commando guy although Zero is pretty close and neat in his own ways. My least favorite is the gun zerker. The dual wielding thing is probably fun if you have two really bad ass weapons but overall I find that character kind of boring.

On a general note the game is funnier than I expected. I know they made a big deal of Anthony Burch writing most of it but I find Hey Ash watcha playing over-rated so I was skeptical coming into this. But there are some legit funny moments. I say this after not thinking a single thing in the original Borderlands was funny.

Siren is a fun class from the get-go due to Phaselock.

Gunzerker and Zero are classes that pay off in the later game when the skill tree is more fleshed out. Early on it's kinda... wut?

Commando is kind of the missionary boring class, imo. Turrets... man

This game is brutal.  It seems like you need to be at least a couple levels higher than the recommended level as "normal."  I got a lot of lucky second winds thanks to guns that deal elemental damage that take out an enemy in the nick of time.  Also, being good at sniping gives you a false impression that you're making great progress when you should really hang back a bit and grind for a while.

No freaking doubt.  There have been so many times where I've said to myself, "They must all be dead now!" and run in only to get killed by a fucking nomad...

While the game has been tough, its no harder than the first. You just have to play smart and not rush in.

Live this game so far. Took me a few levels to adjust but im back in the groove.

??? No, being good at sniping means enemies die in one shot, and you laugh from afar. Headshots = Critical

You can also take chunks of boss health this way.

the problem with not rushing in is that i'm playing a gunzerker, and his abilities are built around rushing in

The gunzerker doesn't have an easy bailout get out of danger card to play like the other classes.

Lock, turret, and stealth are all a way to retreat if used correctly by comparison.

I'll be honest and say in general I don't see how people play this game singleplayer. Even in comparison to the other loot games, this one seems like it begs for co-op. So many mechanics are built into it that encourage it. I would recommend everybody really play it that way if at all possible.

I played the first one multiple times solo because everyone I know is shitty in co-op. (L4D, Saints Row, this, etc. they're terrible!)

And to be fair I kinda like solo. I loved in the first game when it sometimes offered "isolation" and that I was alone in this hostile world.

I started a new game with Zer0 and I like him a lot more than Axton. I love the pistols that buff the melee. Anything stupid enough to run at you loses its head with one swipe. It's also pretty gratifying meleeing a boss to its death using the deception power. One thing I learned from watching one of the dev diaries about the assassin is that the first shot/melee attack in deception deals the most damage.
I used the Bad Hair day quest to get a nice sniper rifle. It's almost twice as good as the one you start with.

I had fun playing with you mojo.

I messed that up the first time because I accidentally killed Flesh-Stick right away, but when I went back to do the mission again, it was just him there and no one else. After that, it's simple as can be to get him back to the cave.

There's a story twist that occurs late in the game that i found pretty good and well done:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
You find out Angel isn't an AI, but Jack's daughter and she's also a Siren. You kill her and Jack kidnaps Lilith. Then you start seeing super high-res IRL videos of Lilith instead of Angel.
