I swear they've been doing this for like 2 years and never advertised it. I'm pretty sure those weird camera things right in the middle of the guard rail is a 3D/VR camera. They had them on the posts for a while as well. Maybe they have just been building up footage or something but I could swear they had an offering of some events in VR, which was basically like front row seats. That would be pretty interesting tbh.

yep, they've been doing it off and on for at least a year. i think its actually handled by that NextVR company cause they do this for NBA and other sports stuff too. the nba stuff was pretty cool when i watched some recently, so i imagine this will be cool too.

iirc the post cameras were those high fps slow motion cameras. there was a period where they'd show the replay of something big in super slow motion but they don't do it as much anymore.

watched a couple of the vr wwe vids. one older vid (hhh/batista from wm) and a newer one (women's 3 way at ss) and they were both kinda cool but pretty goofy. both matches were edited down to like 5-6 mins but still pretty neat. the cameras are set up on various places along the floor or on the posts so you are kinda looking up at the video at all times, but that's how most vr video seems to be. you can also look around or whatever but there isn't much to see other than the crowd and the match.

hhh/batista started with a giant snickers ad, which was pretty hilarious, and then cut to shortened vids of their entrances. the hhh one looked pretty silly up close. was a little weird for the in-ring action cause any hits would make the post shake so the whole video would shake. a ton of shots of batista's ass too, and two good shots of someone getting thrown into the camera or some attacks coming at the camera.

the 3 way match didn't have the camera shake or the giant ad, both of which i was grateful for. it also had less of the forced "omg its coming right at you" and was more just shots of the match from all the different angles. there was one shot of becky doing a dive off the top rope that was especially excellent, but imo batista has the better ass.

i dunno if i'd actually want to watch a whole ppv like this but for matches i do like it'd be cool to revisit them in vr.

Finally wrapping up the end of WCW and it really couldn't be more fitting:

Ric Flair kissing the ass of a donkey to end the second to last Nitro, Ric Flair jobbing to Sting on the final Nitro, and Nitro ending with the McMahons promoting Wrestlemania.

What's really pretty weird is they kept up with storylines and even started/half blew off most of them and actually set up the matches for the Night of Champions Nitro. And arguably did a better job of putting over fresher, younger talent in the last 3 weeks after the deal fell apart than the last 3 months.

Ironically, the last Thunder is probably the best Thunder since 1998. It ends with a still of the production crew on the ramp waving good bye, the end of 30 years of wrasslin' on TBS. It's been 19 years and wrasslin has yet to return to TBS. 



Is it a coincidence that the last WCW PPV was in Jacksonville, which is AEW's homebase? 


I will say, 2001 WCW has more logical and coherent booking than AEW. You'd never have a dude on a 10 match losing streak get a title shot against Scott Steiner in 2001. Or Steiner get baited into a title match via Looney Tunes promos. This goes for all the titles. Everyone had to win a number one contender match or beat the champ in a non-title match to get an opportunity.

Boy Cody's promo this week was one of the most obnoxious, unlikable face promos this side of Seth Rollins. The display of opulence was a Ric Flair thing, even though Dusty did it from time to time, it wasn't nearly as just a blatant asshole showing off. Especially when you combine it with the smark bait promo surrounding it and how stupid it all is to begin with because Cody can book any match he wants. He literally dropped some smark line and looked directly into the camera for the reaction

watching some old tlc's since i'm going to it this weekend. some "highlights" so far:

2009 - christian vs shelton benjamin for the ecw title to kick it off and christian hits himself in the face with a ladder and bleeds so much the doctor has to come out

2010 - cena handling the nexus solo

2011 - just started it up but an entire arena going nuts for zack ryder and king calling ryder "my dog" while explaining how twitter works to cole is really awful. i cannot count the amount of times king has said "trended worldwide" in this one match.

Truly baffled at some of this. No idea why Jericho and Moxley get singles matches (potentially 2 for Moxley) but Ishii is stuck in a filler 8 man tag and doesn't even get a match on night two. He's been the MVP basically the past decade running and has yet to be given a significant WK match. All the build up for Shibata/KENTA all for Goto, the biggest loser in NJPW, to wrestle in Shibata's place. Why the losers in the title matches on night 1 will wrestle each other on night 2 is beyond me. The months long Liger/Suzuki build up for a match for a lame duck show when it could have been saved for one of these nights since Suzuki isn't doing shit anyway.

Moxley and Jericho aren't working as reps of AEW, they have their own deals that both predate their AEW deals. The Dutch guy running NJ said he'd be open to an AEW relationship and there are no NJ/ROH shows on the schedule this year. With NJ running their own shows in the US now, who knows. AEW wouldn't let Moxley work the US G1 show or any of the other shows despite him being the US champion at the time.

There's no word yet on what brought the comments on, but Cass and Janela had an incident back in September that could have ended with Cass going to jail, if it weren't for Janela declining to press charges.

WTF is this shit? 

Kevin Owens is shown backstage walking around with his metal pipe, and he finds the truck that the AOP arrived in. Owens starts smashing up the truck and yells at AOP to come at him. Owens opens the back door of the van, and it looks like there's someone sitting in there with their back turned to him. Suddenly the AOP attack Owens from behind and beat him down. They slam Owens' head into the van door. The AOP says something to the guy in the van, and he turns around with a hood over his head. He lifts up the head to reveal that it is Seth Rollins. Seth gets out of the van with an evil look on his face and tells Owens this is what it's come to. Seth gives Owens a curb stomp on the arena floor, then Seth walks off with the AOP.

Back from the break, we see a replay of what just happened, and then Seth Rollins comes out to the stage with a mic. He says "What do you want from me?" Seth says he used to get along with the WWE Universe, but something went wrong and they don't like him anymore, and he can't figure out why. Seth says he doesn't take nights off, he fights through injuries, he puts it all on the line in the ring for each and every one of you. Seth say he sticks his neck out for the fans in the ring and in the media, and in return he gets spit on and disrespected. Rollins said last week he told everyone he had nothing to do with the AOP, and it was the truth, but that wasn't good enough. Since the fans jumped on the Owens bandwagon, and they want to push him, it's time for him to push back. He says the fans and Owens drove him to stand side by side with two men who understand - The AOP. The AOP come out to the ring and stand next to Rollins, then they all leave together.
