If AEW is going to have PPVs so far apart (there's still a FULL 2 months before Revolution), they really need to have big "specials" in the vein of Clash of the Champions or something. MJF turned in the first half of November, it's now January and that feud hasn't progressed at all. Goldust had his arm broken by Jack Swagger 6 weeks ago, he's just now wrestling members of the Inner Circle and not even the guy that broke his arm. The general Elite vs Inner Circle feud has had zero progression since it started. If anything it's just kind of fizzled out.

Remember the Omega/Mox build was was 3 months of having the same stand off segment every show.

This shit with Cody hiring Arn as his coach like it's a big deal and surprise when in fact Arn already appeared to help Cody in the feud with Tye Dillinger because Tully was involved so I guess Arn had to be involved even though it didn't make sense then, and now to bring him back for the same role months later after the feud was dead and Arn is a sworn enemy of every generation of Rhodes

This either ends with Cody destroying 35 years of wrestling continuity with his family and Arn, or Arn swerving him and Cody booking himself to be the dumbest mother fucker possible.

This Dark Order shit has been going on since fucking May.

Yeah, the problem with AEW is that it feels like it's the same few people doing the same few match-ups every week (or other week) and nothing is going anywhere. I don't watch the show for like a month, come back, and it feels like I missed nothing.

I think having fewer ppvs is actually the way to go- I like NXT having 4-5 takeovers a year, I feel like it gives feuds/programs time to breathe and develop, and then you get a nice payoff at takeover.

...however NXT is the most logically booked promotion going these days, with well developed characters (for a wrasslin show, anyway) that generally behave in a consistent manner. AEW is... a mess with like, 3 different weird cult factions, and a group of guys that call themselves the Elite but do nothing but lose, so, you know.

Liger match was fun for the oldies getting some shine and not embarrassing themselves

All the tags were entirely skippable fluff, the IWGP Tag match in particularly was lol because GOD look like neither have been to the gym in months and Juice's new look is

Mox/Archer was sloppy as fuck, I don't think I've seen Mox that lazy and airballing all of his strikes since 2015-2016 when he was completely checked out and not giving a fuck at all. I think he probably has another staph infection. He's looked soft and lethargic for weeks now, also wearing the bandage on that spot again.

Junior match was very strong. Liked Ospreay as a vicious dick head and he really should be moved up to heavyweight after all the mass he's put on in the past year and a half.

White/Naito fucking sucked. Straight up. Naito's story has been going on for about 5 years now (really it goes back to 2013 WK and his match with Okada getting bumped for Tana/Nak for the IC title) and I've long lost any interest in him and the grand long term plan. And Jay White is a fucking bore to begin with, and his existence is about DA HEAT instead of winning which doesn't at all fit with NJ's style and has been an issue with Bullet Club bullshit since day one.

Okada/Ibushi delivered, especially once Ibushi when to the netherrealm. I really felt like it was Ibushi's time and I'd hate to see him fall into the Naito booking pattern of holding off for so many years that by the time they get to it people have stopped caring and his body is breaking down. I guess if you want to finally cement Naito, it needs to be beating Okada to unify the titles, but I think Ibushi should have won. But I also didn't want to see another Naito vs Ibushi let's see who can get paralyzed first match, and Jay White is

so I wasn't into the idea of this mini tournament thing to begin with.

at his celebration getting interrupted and the biggest night of his professional life ending with him being helped out with his head down and no confetti celebration like Tana and Okada get. Certainly fitting with his booking arc. Didn't feel like a king making moment at all to me, would be shocked if he still has either title by the G1.

G1 is after the Olympics, as nachobro pointed out someplace else, Japan probably wants Okada to be repping them as one of the torch bearers. Might as well give him the IGPW Heavyweight belt with it.
