There are a number of MSG/Philly/Boston shows and SNME from the period. Not any weekly TV, though.

Now that I think about it....I could have sworn they had the Hogan cartoon on the Network at one point.

I'm editing a wrestling book right now (a great excuse to subject myself to this trash again). The big thing I learned today is that when Hogan was in Rocky III, he wasn't famous yet. I probably could have figured that out if I looked at dates.

Depends on how you define famous. He was already huge in Japan and had just come off of a year long, well selling feud with Andre in 1980, had done TV with Lou Ferrigno, and had exploded in AWA before Rocky III came out.

Yeah, I mean pre-Hulkamania (as in before even non-wrestling fans knew him). When I first saw the movie, I figured he got the part because of Hulkamania, but he wasn't even ever a face in the US until after R3 came out.

There are reports that WWE is considering the idea of having another Superstar Shakeup following SummerSlam, likely in the fall timeframe.

The first Shakeup earlier this year initially led to great ratings but there was soon a big drop off as it is believed the movements led to less interesting rosters in general. It's possible the next Shakeup could be a way to rectify those changes.

Another change being talked about is to send one or more wrestlers from either Raw or Smackdown down to NXT. These wrestlers would be either those who were previously in NXT who Vince McMahon simply isn't going to push on the main roster or talent who are have no storylines but could end up being much more relevant on NXT as major players.

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Doing a post-Summerslam roster change?  Am all for it.   But watch this basically gut Smackdown and turn it back into the shitty B-show again.

Sending people BACK to NXT?  Not sure if that's a good idea (and wouldn't that be bad for talent morale?).

Nashville on July 17 was the site of a recent story when people from both WWE and GFW ended up at the same bar at night. GFW had meetings in Nashville, whereas WWE held Raw in the city.

The story involves Karen Jarrett and Braun Strowman with the report indicating that Karen approached Strowman for an autograph for her son, who is apparently a fan of Braun's. Strowman reportedly had no idea who Karen was and depending on what version you want to believe, either was rude to Karen or swore at her.

Karen didn't take to it kindly and "immediately cut a major loud promo" on Braun for blowing her off and during her tirade indicated that she would go and tell her son's father about this incident. Her ex-husband and son's father is none other than Kurt Angle.

When Strowman heard this, he was said to immediately change his tune and agreed to not only sign the autograph, but he was said to have "begged" Karen not to tell Kurt or anyone else. He also repeatedly apologized but Karen said she would still be telling Kurt about this so Strowman then reportedly said he'd get on his knees and beg.

As the story goes, Strowman did eventually get on his knees and begged her not to tell anyone in front of a lot of WWE wrestlers. Karen then said that even if Kurt was not the father of her son, he should not act like that to a mother who was simply asking for an autograph for her son and Strowman agreed and once again apologized.

I don't dislike the idea but can't imagine that would go over well with any potential demotees, especially if they're going back to NXT sized paychecks too

People have asked to work NXT because there is more freedom and hotter crowds. I don't think anyone is going to be mad about getting put on NXT.

Also SD got significantly worse the better their roster got, so I don't think them getting gutted will matter much in another shake up.

It really bums me out that Elias Samson's gimmick is a wandering singer/songwriter and the dude doing it sucks at both of those things. It sucks, but not in the heel way.

It sucking is the gimmick. I didn't like it in NXT but the clips I've seen from Raw he seems to be doing well for himself. Jacked as hell. Looking twice as big and charismatic as Balor.

I think it's a bad gimmick. It sucks in the wrong way and doesn't endear him as a heel. It's just boring. He doesn't have the flair to pull off the gimmick.

He's basically doing Hollywood Rock Concert thing except it's bad.

Yeah...that's the point of the gimmick. It's a troll gimmick. Either you lulz at it or hate it. I lulz at Balor  going from the chosen one to coming back to do a month long feud with a troll comedy character and getting his ass beat.

Cena/Nak was pretty good for such a giant match within the confines of a TV match with commercials and whatnot that kill the flow of a big time match. Certainly the most Nak has tried on TV since he WWE debut. I still don't know why they'd throw that out there on TV weeks before the second biggest show of the year, even if PPVs really don't mean anything anymore. Cena vs Nakamura first time ever feels like it should be a showcase on a giant show, not random TV match with one week of build.

Still, it was a good TV match. Except for that brutal head drop. Idk how that move got messed up that bad, but, dang. Also genuinely surprised that it was a real match with a real, clean finish.

I'm mostly surprised Nakamura went over cleanly and is getting a title shot. Then again, they've already established a feud with him and Corbin, who has the MitB case, and teased a match with AJ, which I wanna see more than Cena-Nakamura. Have that shit at WM.

It's hard to say who botched what on that move. I don't know enough about the physics about the reverse exploder suplex to know who's doing the brunt of the work but it looks like Cena needs to jump and pivot his body to make it work? And it doesn't look like he did?

It seemed like Cena thought it was a back drop and Nak either wasn't strong enough or noticed too late to force him over more. Accidents happen. Good thing Cena's neck and shoulders are made of adamantium.

I think we would've heard by now if Cena was seriously injured, right? Maybe it's because I haven't watched this stuff since the 90s, but I don't hate the guy in WWE, and everything I've seen about the real guy seems to paint a good picture about him.

Nak/Jinder should be an interesting match, but I hope they get some practice in beforehand.

That drop definitely looks like it should have hurt, but yeah Cena is made of steel. Also that post-SD bit might be a setup for Cena/Corbin? I'd be down to watch that for sure.

Seems like it would have to be those two, unless Cena heads over to RAW to set up a Summerslam match instead.  If that happens, I wonder what Corbin will do, since the WWE doesn't want him cashing in until Jinder is out of the title picture.

I was randomly thinking about Cesaro after seeing people STILL acting like he's the most held back talent ever and would be such a huge star back on the indies and in Japan. He was on the indies and worked in Japan. He wasn't pushed as a huge star then, either. In fact, the biggest push of his pre-WWE career came as...part of a tag team where he took on the personality and gimmick of his more established tag partner. PWG put the title on him before they really blew up, but no one else did.

If he's such an incredible talent and Vince just doesn't know how to book him, why is it that every other promoter in the world booked him the same way?

Cesaro is bland as hell. I never saw why he should ever get pushed. When your most popular move is swinging people around you're nothing but a novelty.

Since he's been wearing a skirt lately all I can think of is an old Headbanger Mosh

Whenever they let him be himself he's proven he's missing SOMETHING. It's funny because remember that Stone Cold Vince podcast? He said everything. Guy has it all except he's missing something. He can't say what it is, or they'd work on it, but he's missing SOMETHING.

Vince was right. The Hitmaker speaks.

I finished the G1 and man, I'm really reaching my limit of enjoying seeing guys land on their head 40 times a match and coming up with increasingly more dangerous spots and bumps. I'm not sure how much farther they can raise the bar before someone gets injured even worse than Shibata.
